AkzoNobel Launches New Adjuvants in Russia, Asia

AkzoNobel recently launched two new in-can adjuvants that improve bio-efficacy, activity, and effectiveness of paraquat, glufosinate, and 2,4-D formulations.

Adsee 1629, a robust quaternary ammonium salt-based adjuvant labeled for use with all three actives, offers excellent compatibility and versatility. Adsee 1250HV, a quat-based blended adjuvant for paraquat and other high viscosity SL (soluble liquid) formulations, improves applicator safety by thickening the formulation. In addition, it boosts bio-efficacy and greatly improves retention of spray droplets on the plant.

Adsee 1629 balances wetting and absorptivity to enable maximum penetration of the pesticide into the plant for maximum effectiveness. The adjuvant works with pesticide from various sources and of varying qualities.

“If pesticide producers are using three or four different herbicide formulations, they can use just one adjuvant,” said Dr. Karin Bergström, global marketing manager, Agro Applications, AkzoNobel Surface Chemistry. “By using Adsee 1629, producers simplify production, manage inventory, decrease working capital and minimize the amount of raw materials. This optimization aligns perfectly with AkzoNobel’s Planet Possible mission of resource efficiency.”

The versatility of Adsee 1629 provides formulators with a great deal of flexibility. “By combining Adsee 1629 with another surfactant,” said Bergstrom, “formulators can use different ratios and concentrations of the surfactants to produce a full range of viscosities, from low viscosity to a gel formulation.”

Adsee 1250HV improves the penetration of paraquat into the plant, and as a thickening agent, improves viscosity of the formulation. Adsee 1250HV can thicken a paraquat formulation to a viscosity of greater than 100 cP at dose levels of just 2 percent to 5 percent, depending on the pH of the formulation. By adding acid or base agrochemists can fine-tune the formulation to exactly the desired viscosity.

Launches in Russia and Asia
As part of a push to expand its agrochemical business into growth areas of Russia and Southeast Asia, AkzoNobel launched the new adjuvants at customer serminars in Sochi, Russia; Jakarta, Indonesia; and Bangkok, Thailand.

The seminars drew 130 agrochemists from around Russia and Eastern Europe to Sochi; and from the AsiaPacific region to Bangkok and Jakarta. In addition to detailing the surface chemistry of various formulation types and the appropriate AkzoNobel offerings, the company strengthened working relationships with agrochemists to foster collaboration and the opportunities to achieve more while fewer resources.
