Bayer Exploring Bid for Monsanto – Bloomberg

Bloomberg reported on Thursday that German firm Bayer is exploring a potential acquisition of Monsanto, in a deal that would create the world’s No. 1 seed and agrochemical company.

Citing unnamed sources familiar with the matter, the news agency said Bayer has held preliminary talks internally and with advisers on a bid for Monsanto, which is worth nearly $40 billion. Bayer, which is worth about $96 billion, has discussed how to finance a deal including potential asset sales, Bloomberg said.
