Lallemand Acquires Lage y Cía, Expands Plant Care Business
2 May 2016 Lallemand Inc., a global developer, producer, and marketer of yeast, bacteria, and other microorganism, has acquired Lage y Cía, a Uruguay-based company focusing on the use of yeasts, bacteria, and fungi as biocontrol, biostimulant and biofertilizer agents in agriculture, horticulture, and forestry. The newly-acquired company will be included in Lallemand Plant Care, the company’s business unit .
“We are very excited with the opportunities associated with becoming a part of Lallemand Plant Care after having been close collaborators for the past 3 years,” said Carlos Lage Zerboni, founder of Lage y Cía.
Lage y Cia has more than 38 years’ experience developing and producing inoculants, legume seed treatments, and other biological crop management inputs in Uruguay. The addition of the company to Lallemand’s Plant Care business brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and innovative product development to the privately-owned Canadian company.
Lage y Cía will expand Lallemand Plant Care’s presence in Latin America, increase its production capacity, and bolster its R&D activities.
