Stoller Opens Biopesticide Factory in Brazil

Stoller do Brasil has announced an investment of R$30 million to inaugurate its new factory for biopesticides in Cosmópolis in the Brazilian state of São Paulo. According to the company, the factory spread over 6,000 square meters will help multiply the current production, reaching 35 million dose per year, consolidating one of the biggest and most modern factory of biological products for agriculture in the world.

The factory will be committed to the market, as well as the environment. The factory will multiply the current production of biological products through integrally sustainable measures, such as by using LED lights that consume less energy than conventional lights, reducing the use of air conditioners, harvesting of rainwater for use during drought period and using recycled water for industrial processes.

Stoller is one of the leaders in the Brazilian market for inoculants and biofertilizers. The Brazilian market of biological control is estimated to grow from 15 percent to 20 percent per year, while the growth of chemical products is expected to be around 3 percent, according to the Brazilian Association of Biological Control Companies (ABCBio).

Rodrigo Oliveira, CEO of Stoller, highlighted the importance of the investment. “We feel the greatest efforts in agriculture require new tools. Last year, Stoller started a program for the development of products in the area of biopesticides to ensure that farmers have greater profitability, while allowing a harmonious co-existence with the environment. We act through integrated solutions that enable the farmer to extract the maximum genetic potential of the plants, with the goal of offering a complete portfolio contributing to better productivity and quality in the field,” Oliveira said.

The new manufacturing plant will use high technology and consolidate the position of the multinational. “We have always been attentive to the market owing to our culture of transforming knowledge on innovation. Stoller guarantees growth in the Brazilian market and the possibility of exporting these products to other parts of the world,” the CEO remarked.
