CAST Elects President for 2012-13

In a recent election at the Council for Agricultural Science and Technology, Dr. Lowell T. Midla was chosen as the President-Elect for 2012-2013.

“We look forward to Lowell’s enthusiastic leadership as it applies to CAST,” said Dr. John Bonner, executive vice president and CEO of the organization in a statement.

In his “CAST Three-Year Vision” statement, Midla stressed the importance of the CAST mission as an unbiased information provider. To build on this, he proposes that CAST should “emphasize and thereby enhance our impact–for with impact, input and investment will follow. CAST should re-double its efforts to be a primary source for legislators and the media.”

Midla assumes leadership responsibilities in November at the conclusion of CAST’s Fall Board Meeting when he will become the 41st President of the Council for Agricultural Science and Technology.

Midla represents the American Association of Bovine Practitioners on the CAST Board of Representatives and serves on the Animal Agriculture and Environmental Issues work group. He has proficiency at all levels of organizational hierarchy, and this diversity of experience serves him well in leadership roles.
