Bayer Searching For Brazil Methamidophos Answer

Bayer’s production facilities for its methamidophos-based Tamaron 600 SL were lost due to an explosion at the company’s plant at Belford Roxo, Rio de Janeiro in January. Since Bayer does not have a registration to import the ai, it must purchase its supply from a Brazilian producer. AENDA, the Brazilian generic agrochemical industry association, requested that the authorities reject any emergency registration application from Bayer, as there already is a national supplier.

Methamidophos is approved in Brazil for soybeans, cotton, beans, wheat, and potatoes, and generates sales of US $120 million per year.
