Syngenta Acquires Abamectin Technology

Syngenta has signed an agreement with Merck & Co. Inc. giving Syngenta exclusive access to use Merck’s manufacturing technology for the insecticide abamectin for the markets of crop protection, seed treatment, turf, and ornamentals. The use of abamectin based products is expanding rapidly to replace older insecticides facing regulatory restrictions. Syngenta holds registrations for abamectin in more than 80 countries to control pests at low use rates in fruit, vegetables, and cotton. Key markets for the insecticide are the US, Europe, Japan, and Korea.
