UU. (USDA-FAS) informa que el aumento de la superficie plantada y la mejora del rendimiento son responsables del aumento de la producci\u00f3n, que romper\u00eda el r\u00e9cord de 6,32 MMT en 2004, seg\u00fan lo registrado por la Oficina Nacional de Estad\u00edsticas de China (NSB ). La superficie plantada de algod\u00f3n en China aument\u00f3 6.25% en 2005 a aproximadamente 5,4 millones de hect\u00e1reas (Ha).<\/p>\n<p>Sin embargo, el crecimiento de la producci\u00f3n de algod\u00f3n chino est\u00e1 muy eclipsado por la creciente demanda de la industria textil del pa\u00eds. Se pronostica que el consumo de algod\u00f3n para 2006\/07 superar\u00e1 los 10,5 millones de toneladas m\u00e9tricas. Seg\u00fan los datos mensuales de hilados publicados por el Centro de Informaci\u00f3n del Algod\u00f3n de China (cncotton.com), la producci\u00f3n total de hilados para la campa\u00f1a comercial 2005\/06 (de septiembre a agosto) alcanz\u00f3 las 16,04 MMT.
