En el pasado, los compradores importaban ma\u00edz partido como sustituto de las importaciones tradicionales de ma\u00edz amarillo para evitar el sistema de cuotas en la fase de implementaci\u00f3n del TLCAN. USDA-FAS alude a varias fuentes de la industria que se\u00f1alan que el mercado mexicano del ma\u00edz ya est\u00e1 integrado con el mercado estadounidense, debido a que el gobierno ampli\u00f3 las cuotas libres de aranceles para satisfacer la demanda interna. Si bien se aplicaron aranceles por encima de la cuota, se espera que el impacto de la eliminaci\u00f3n de la cuota sea menor, ya que M\u00e9xico apunta a seguir siendo autosuficiente en ma\u00edz blanco.
