Chellamuthu detalla la preparaci\u00f3n como: \u201cAproximadamente un kg de hojas de chirimoya, rizoma de c\u00farcuma, peenari changu (<em>Clerodendrum inermi<\/em>), Aloe vera, Nochi (<em>Vitex negundo<\/em>), n\u00facleo de neem (<em>Azadirachta indica<\/em>) y calotropis (<em>calotropis gigantia<\/em>) cada uno debe triturarse en una pasta fina agregando suficiente agua y aproximadamente cinco litros de esencia extra\u00edda de ella. La esencia debe diluirse en 15 litros de agua (para que sean 20 litros) y rociarse sobre la copa del \u00e1rbol a raz\u00f3n de 2 litros por \u00e1rbol despu\u00e9s de cosechar las nueces \u201d. Chellamuthu recomienda repetir el procedimiento una vez cada dos meses al inicio y luego dos veces al a\u00f1o. \u201cCerca de 2.000 cocoteros tratados con mi f\u00f3rmula a base de hierbas son saludables y unos 300 agricultores la est\u00e1n usando\u201d, dice.<\/p>\n<p>El agricultor tambi\u00e9n aboga por el uso de asaf\u00e9tida, o hinojo gigante, para aumentar el rendimiento de los cultivos. \u201cDescubr\u00ed accidentalmente que la asaf\u00e9tida act\u00faa como repelente de plagas y ayuda al crecimiento de las plantas\u201d, dice Chellamuthu, y agrega que \u00e9l sabe que la asaf\u00e9tida beneficia la salud de las plantas, pero no sabe por qu\u00e9. Por acre coloca un kg de asaf\u00e9tida dentro de un saco y lo coloca en el canal de riego. \u201cEl agua junto con la asaf\u00e9tida disuelta repele las plagas y ayuda al crecimiento de los cultivos\u201d, dice.<\/p>\n<p>Descubri\u00f3 esta t\u00e9cnica por accidente: \u201cUna vez le suger\u00ed en broma a mi vecino que usara el excedente de medio kilo de asaf\u00e9tida que ten\u00eda en sus plantas de calabac\u00edn afectadas por plagas. Quer\u00eda burlarme de \u00e9l y no sab\u00eda las consecuencias \u201d, dice. Sorprendendo tanto a Chellamuthu como a su vecino, las plantas no solo sobrevivieron al ataque de plagas, sino que tambi\u00e9n crecieron bien para producir calabazas m\u00e1s grandes y saludables que las normales. Un agricultor de un pueblo vecino se enter\u00f3 de su \u00e9xito y, despu\u00e9s de usarlo en sus 2,5 acres de plantas de jazm\u00edn, obtuvo un buen rendimiento.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cComenc\u00e9 a experimentar el efecto de la asaf\u00e9tida en arroz, semillas de s\u00e9samo, man\u00ed, tomate, berenjena y otros cultivos y descubr\u00ed que el rendimiento aument\u00f3 y las plantas estaban sanas\u201d, dice Chellamuthu.
