UU. - Servicio de investigaci\u00f3n agr\u00edcola (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ars.usda.gov\/\">ARS<\/a>) cient\u00edficos de la Unidad de Investigaci\u00f3n de Cultivos de Cereales del ARS, junto con cient\u00edficos colaboradores del <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ndsu.nodak.edu\/\">Universidad Estatal de Dakota del Norte-Fargo <\/a>y el <a href=\"http:\/\/www.murdoch.edu.au\/\">Centro Australiano de Pat\u00f3genos F\u00fangicos Necrotr\u00f3ficos-Murdoch<\/a>, entre otros, han utilizado t\u00e9cnicas moleculares para descubrir c\u00f3mo dos hongos - <em>Pyrenophora tritici-repentis <\/em>(mancha bronceada) y <em>Stagonospora nodorum <\/em>(mancha foliar): produce ToxA, una toxina que ataca y corrompe un solo gen, Tsn1, y activa las hojas de la planta para que se autodestruyan en lo que se llama muerte celular programada (PCD), informa <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ars.usda.gov\/news\/news.htm\">Servicio de Noticias ARS<\/a>. Si bien el PCD protege a las plantas atrapando los pat\u00f3genos invasores en las c\u00e9lulas muertas, no funciona contra el ToxA, que se alimenta de tejido muerto.<\/p>\n<p>Para detener esta reacci\u00f3n gen\u00e9tica, el equipo cient\u00edfico ha desarrollado marcadores moleculares de ADN para la detecci\u00f3n r\u00e1pida de cultivares comerciales para el gen Tsn1.
