En un segundo proyecto, los cient\u00edficos analizar\u00e1n computacionalmente los genes que est\u00e1n involucrados en la respuesta de las plantas a situaciones de alto estr\u00e9s como la sequ\u00eda. Ambos proyectos de investigaci\u00f3n cuentan con el apoyo financiero de IWT, la agencia nacional para la promoci\u00f3n de la innovaci\u00f3n mediante la ciencia y la tecnolog\u00eda en Flandes, B\u00e9lgica, seg\u00fan el comunicado. Los resultados del estudio se publicar\u00e1n en las principales revistas cient\u00edficas.<\/p>\n<p>La epigen\u00e9tica es un fen\u00f3meno natural que utilizan las plantas y los animales para regular c\u00f3mo se lee y se utiliza el material hereditario, por ejemplo, como respuesta a la sequ\u00eda. Dependiendo de factores externos, como largos periodos de sequ\u00eda, los genes que provocan la respuesta de la planta se activan en mayor o menor medida desde el ADN, seg\u00fan Bayer. Estos cambios se transmiten a la progenie, aunque no se almacenan en la secuencia de ADN.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Con el nuevo proyecto de investigaci\u00f3n conjunta, nuestro objetivo es desarrollar el control epigen\u00e9tico como una nueva herramienta molecular para la mejora de los cultivos agr\u00edcolas&quot;, dijo el Dr. Johan Botterman, director de Investigaci\u00f3n de Productos de Biociencia en Bayer CropScience en un comunicado.<\/p>\n<p>Los investigadores tambi\u00e9n est\u00e1n utilizando aplicaciones inform\u00e1ticas en el estudio de la tolerancia al estr\u00e9s de las plantas.
