El descubrimiento marca la primera identificaci\u00f3n de los receptores vanilloides, los canales i\u00f3nicos TRPV (potencial receptor transitorio vanilloide), como objetivos insecticidas. Los resultados, publicados en la revista cient\u00edfica <em>Neurona<\/em> el 6 de mayo de 2015, podr\u00eda ayudar a manejar mejor la resistencia a los insecticidas y tener implicaciones para la investigaci\u00f3n y el uso de insecticidas.<\/p>\n<p>En su estudio, los cient\u00edficos se centraron en el modo de acci\u00f3n de los insecticidas pimetrozina y pirifluquinanzon. Identificaron un nuevo complejo de canales i\u00f3nicos TRPV como la prote\u00edna diana de las dos sustancias. En los insectos, existen dos canales TRPV, que ocurren juntos en ciertos receptores de estiramiento que est\u00e1n presentes en las articulaciones, por ejemplo, en las antenas y las patas. Al detectar est\u00edmulos mec\u00e1nicos, estos receptores de estiramiento proporcionan a los insectos los sentidos del equilibrio, la audici\u00f3n y la coordinaci\u00f3n. Los dos insecticidas solo act\u00faan selectivamente sobre estos receptores de estiramiento porque activan un complejo de canales i\u00f3nicos formado por los dos canales TRPV.
