El objetivo es desarrollar plantas de soja que sean m\u00e1s resistentes a la roya asi\u00e1tica de la soja.<\/p>\n<p>Roya asi\u00e1tica de la soja (<em>Phakopsora pachyrhizi<\/em>) es un desaf\u00edo cr\u00edtico para los productores. Si no se maneja adecuadamente con aplicaciones frecuentes de fungicidas, la enfermedad puede causar p\u00e9rdidas de rendimiento de hasta 80%. El pat\u00f3geno causa grandes p\u00e9rdidas econ\u00f3micas y de rendimiento en Am\u00e9rica Latina, donde <a href=\"https:\/\/apps.fas.usda.gov\/psdonline\/reporthandler.ashx?reportId=706&amp;templateId=8&amp;format=html&amp;fileName=Table%2007:%20Soybeans:%20World%20Supply%20and%20Distribution\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">191 millones de toneladas m\u00e9tricas<\/a> se produjeron en la temporada de crecimiento 2020-2021. Solo en Brasil, la roya de la soja asi\u00e1tica ha <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC4894884\/#:~:text=The%20biotrophic%20basidiomycete%20threatens%20soybean,et%20al.%2C%202014).\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">caus\u00f3 p\u00e9rdidas de cultivos de m\u00e1s de US$ 10 mil millones<\/a> desde su primer brote end\u00e9mico en 2001.<\/p>\n<p>Al trabajar con cient\u00edficos de plantas l\u00edderes en el mundo, la Fundaci\u00f3n 2Blades identifica nuevas fuentes de resistencia a las enfermedades en la naturaleza contra las principales amenazas de enfermedades no controladas de los principales cultivos. La resistencia gen\u00e9tica permite que los cultivos detecten la presencia de nuevos pat\u00f3genos, activen el sistema inmunol\u00f3gico de las plantas y protejan los rendimientos.<\/p>\n<p>En 2017, 2Blades y Monsanto, desde <a href=\"https:\/\/www.croplife.com\/industry-news\/bayer-to-ditch-monsanto-name-after-mega-merger\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">adquirido por Bayer<\/a> - inici\u00f3 un proyecto sobre receptores de superficie celular para abordar enfermedades que reducen significativamente el rendimiento. La plataforma desarrollada en ese programa ahora se utilizar\u00e1 para combatir la roya de la soja asi\u00e1tica en paralelo con una colaboraci\u00f3n de la roya de la soja entre las dos organizaciones iniciada en 2018.
