{"id":7216,"date":"2008-12-09T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2008-12-09T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.farmchemicalsinternational.com\/2008\/12\/09\/the-biotechnology-era-begins\/"},"modified":"2019-09-16T13:49:34","modified_gmt":"2019-09-16T17:49:34","slug":"the-biotechnology-era-begins","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.agribusinessglobal.com\/es\/markets\/the-biotechnology-era-begins\/","title":{"rendered":"Comienza la era de la biotecnolog\u00eda"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Hay poco debate sobre la historia principal de consenso de los \u00faltimos 20 a\u00f1os.<\/strong> La biotecnolog\u00eda ha redefinido la industria, ha cambiado el \u00e9nfasis de las empresas l\u00edderes, ha alterado los patrones de cultivo, ha cambiado el enfoque de la investigaci\u00f3n y el desarrollo (I + D), ha causado revuelo entre los grupos de presi\u00f3n y ha alterado las decisiones de insumos, por nombrar solo algunos de sus efectos domin\u00f3.<\/p>\n<p>En sus 10 a\u00f1os de historia, el \u00e1rea de biotecnolog\u00eda global se ha expandido a tasas de crecimiento de dos d\u00edgitos cada a\u00f1o. En ese tiempo, ha pasado a dominar los campos de soja de varios pa\u00edses, con una penetraci\u00f3n de casi 100% en los principales mercados sudamericanos de Brasil y Argentina, gracias al \u00e9xito de taquilla Roundup Ready. El ma\u00edz y el algod\u00f3n biotecnol\u00f3gicos tambi\u00e9n han arrasado en la industria, en gran parte debido a la <em>bacilo turingiensico <\/em>(Bt) rasgo. El algod\u00f3n Bt ha tenido tanto \u00e9xito en la India que el pa\u00eds ahora ha tenido cosechas r\u00e9cord consecutivas de algod\u00f3n despu\u00e9s de luchar durante a\u00f1os con las infestaciones del picudo del algod\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>En los pr\u00f3ximos a\u00f1os, se espera que los cultivos biotecnol\u00f3gicos mantengan su crecimiento. Mirando m\u00e1s hacia el futuro y observando que algunos de los mayores beneficiarios de la biotecnolog\u00eda son y seguir\u00e1n siendo agricultores en los pa\u00edses m\u00e1s pobres del mundo, el Dr. Clive James, presidente de la junta directiva de la <a href=\"http:\/\/www.isaaa.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Servicio Internacional de Adquisici\u00f3n<\/a> de <a href=\"http:\/\/www.isaaa.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Aplicaciones de agrobiotecnolog\u00eda <\/a>(ISAAA), dice: &quot;Las perspectivas para 2010 apuntan a un crecimiento continuo en la superficie mundial de cultivos biotecnol\u00f3gicos, hasta 150 millones de hect\u00e1reas, con hasta 15 millones de agricultores o m\u00e1s cultivando los cultivos en hasta 30 pa\u00edses&quot;.<\/p>\n<p> No todo ha sido color de rosa para el mete\u00f3rico ascenso de la biotecnolog\u00eda. Al dominar tan completamente algunas \u00e1reas, la biotecnolog\u00eda ha jugado un papel en el aumento de malezas resistentes a los herbicidas, particularmente en el caso del glifosato. Tambi\u00e9n ha habido un esfuerzo de los grupos de presi\u00f3n, m\u00e1s fuertemente sentido en la UE, para imponer l\u00edmites o prohibiciones absolutas de los cultivos biotecnol\u00f3gicos por parte de grupos que los consideran riesgosos para el medio ambiente, la biodiversidad o la salud humana. Este esfuerzo solo se ha visto alentado por una serie de casos en los que se descubrieron productos de cultivos biotecnol\u00f3gicos en mercados donde no deber\u00edan haberlo hecho. Adem\u00e1s, las discusiones internacionales sobre derechos de licencia y regal\u00edas, as\u00ed como la replantaci\u00f3n ilegal de semillas y las ventas en el mercado negro de semillas biotecnol\u00f3gicas en pa\u00edses que no las han aceptado para su comercializaci\u00f3n, se han desatado en Am\u00e9rica del Sur y en otros mercados.<\/p>\n<p> Sin embargo, la promesa de la ciencia es vasta, y m\u00e1s notable es el hecho de que todav\u00eda est\u00e1 en su infancia.
