Creo que el primero puede ser obvio para todos, pero es c\u00f3mo el cambio clim\u00e1tico est\u00e1 influyendo en la forma en que los productores cultivan.<\/p>\n<p>El cambio clim\u00e1tico tambi\u00e9n tiene un gran impacto en nuestras propias actividades. Estamos realizando pruebas con todos los productos y esta temporada ha sido extraordinaria. De hecho, ya son unos a\u00f1os de ser extraordinario en cuanto a clima, que se est\u00e1 convirtiendo en la nueva normalidad. Por poner ejemplos, estamos realizando pruebas con patatas y uvas en Europa, en Estados Unidos y con soja en Am\u00e9rica Latina.<\/p>\n<p>Para nuestras pruebas, tuvimos algunos lugares con mucha presi\u00f3n de enfermedades provenientes de una combinaci\u00f3n de sequ\u00edas, altas temperaturas seguidas de lluvias excesivas. En este momento hay mucha humedad y, debido a esto, hemos visto una presi\u00f3n de enfermedades muy fuerte, especialmente en las uvas y las patatas en B\u00e9lgica. El gran cambio clim\u00e1tico est\u00e1 afectando a los agricultores y tambi\u00e9n a empresas como nosotros que desarrollamos productos.<\/p>\n<p>La segunda conclusi\u00f3n es que hemos visto mucha resistencia e impactos regulatorios en las herramientas con las que tienen que trabajar los agricultores. Para dar un ejemplo de resistencia, hemos estado realizando pruebas en California con uvas. Al realizar esos ensayos, comparamos nuestros resultados con est\u00e1ndares qu\u00edmicos. Nuestro socio elegido y los productores se sorprendieron al ver que el programa qu\u00edmico no estaba funcionando como se esperaba.<\/p>\n<p>Esto fue muy sorprendente porque los productos qu\u00edmicos tienen fama de funcionar siempre muy bien en todas las situaciones. Ahora los datos muestran que en algunos casos estos productos qu\u00edmicos ya no funcionan.<\/p>\n<p>Esta es una gran preocupaci\u00f3n para los productores de todo el mundo. Por supuesto, existen diferencias entre los cultivos que se cultivan en diferentes regiones, pero el problema de la resistencia definitivamente est\u00e1 ah\u00ed, no s\u00f3lo para las enfermedades sino tambi\u00e9n para las malezas y los insectos.<\/p>\n<p>Una tercera conclusi\u00f3n son los efectos del entorno regulatorio. Estamos realizando pruebas con patatas y uvas en Europa y estamos consultando con los productores. En Europa existe una gran presi\u00f3n para que los productores eviten el uso de qu\u00edmicos clave que han sido prohibidos. Debido al aumento de enfermedades derivadas del impacto del clima, los agricultores se quedan sin muchas opciones.<\/p>\n<p>Est\u00e1n poniendo cada vez m\u00e1s azufre en los campos, lo que no siempre es una buena respuesta dependiendo de la rotaci\u00f3n de sus cultivos. Creo que los productores ven  una reduccion de sus herramientas, por lo que necesitan nuevas soluciones para ayudar a reemplazar o al menos compensar los productos qu\u00edmicos que muestran resistencia o est\u00e1n prohibidos.<\/p>\n<p>Y me parece algo ir\u00f3nico que, al mismo tiempo que se responsabiliza a Bayer por 1.500 millones de d\u00f3lares en la demanda contra Monsanto por el Roundup, Europa decida volver a aprobar el glifosato durante diez a\u00f1os m\u00e1s.
