Junto con el amianto crisotilo qu\u00edmico industrial, los plaguicidas endosulf\u00e1n y compuestos de tributil esta\u00f1o ser\u00e1n el tema de discusi\u00f3n la pr\u00f3xima semana en la Cuarta Reuni\u00f3n de la Conferencia de las Partes del Convenio de Rotterdam (COP 4) en Roma, Italia, cuando los ministros y funcionarios de m\u00e1s de 120 gobiernos se reunir\u00e1n para decidir si agregar estas sustancias a una lista de vigilancia comercial que ya contiene 39 sustancias peligrosas. Los productos qu\u00edmicos incluidos en el Consentimiento informado previo<\/a> (PIC) est\u00e1n sujetos al Procedimiento de Consentimiento Fundamentado Previo en virtud del Convenio de Rotterdam, un tratado internacional dise\u00f1ado para garantizar que los productos qu\u00edmicos peligrosos no pongan en peligro la salud humana y el medio ambiente.<\/p>\n

La inclusi\u00f3n de un producto qu\u00edmico en la lista de CFP no es una recomendaci\u00f3n global para prohibirlo o restringir severamente su uso; el procedimiento de CFP simplemente les da a los pa\u00edses en desarrollo la capacidad de decidir si excluyen los qu\u00edmicos que no pueden manejar de manera segura.
