Seg\u00fan Nathan Childs, analista senior del mercado del arroz, Servicio de Investigaci\u00f3n Econ\u00f3mica del USDA<\/a>, hablando en la Conferencia Perspectiva del Arroz de EE. UU. en Little Rock, Arkansas, EE. UU., el mundo produjo una cosecha r\u00e9cord de arroz por cuarto a\u00f1o consecutivo. Childs atribuy\u00f3 el aumento a una mayor superficie, en lugar de a mayores rendimientos.<\/p>\n

China, India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, \u00c1frica subsahariana, Tailandia y Camboya expandieron la superficie esta temporada y se proyecta que cosechar\u00e1n cosechas m\u00e1s grandes. Como resultado de un cicl\u00f3n que golpe\u00f3 alrededor del 1 de mayo, se espera que la cosecha de Birmania sea menor, al igual que la de Ir\u00e1n e Irak debido a la sequ\u00eda, y en la UE debido a la falta de agua.<\/p>\n
