La agricultura contribuye con 221 TP3T de las emisiones globales de gases de efecto invernadero, seg\u00fan el Grupo Intergubernamental de Expertos sobre el Cambio Clim\u00e1tico (IPCC).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNos encontramos en un momento crucial, donde la agricultura no solo alimenta al mundo, sino que tambi\u00e9n debe liberar su potencial para convertirse en una soluci\u00f3n al cambio clim\u00e1tico\u201d, afirma Petra Laux, directora de sostenibilidad del Grupo Syngenta. \u201cProducir m\u00e1s alimentos y proteger el medio ambiente es un logro conjunto, pero debemos aprovechar cada hect\u00e1rea agr\u00edcola existente. Expandirnos a m\u00e1s tierras elevar\u00eda las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero mucho m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de nuestros objetivos globales, ya que casi 401 TP3T de la superficie terrestre ya se utiliza para la producci\u00f3n de alimentos. La tecnolog\u00eda y la innovaci\u00f3n son la clave para cerrar la brecha de productividad\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Syngenta es un actor clave en el sector de los sistemas alimentarios que busca facilitar la transici\u00f3n hacia un mundo con bajas emisiones de carbono. Seg\u00fan el l\u00edder mundial en tecnolog\u00eda agr\u00edcola, existen cinco soluciones innovadoras para garantizar que la agricultura forme parte de la soluci\u00f3n clim\u00e1tica, contribuyendo a la seguridad alimentaria global para un mundo de hasta 10\u00a0000 millones de personas para 2050:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Revitalizaci\u00f3n de tierras degradadas<\/strong> mediante t\u00e9cnicas innovadoras de restauraci\u00f3n del suelo y pr\u00e1cticas agr\u00edcolas sostenibles.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Promoci\u00f3n de variedades de cultivos y m\u00e9todos de mejoramiento resilientes al clima<\/strong> que permiten que los cultivos prosperen en condiciones dif\u00edciles, requiriendo menos agua, resistiendo plagas y enfermedades de forma natural y manteniendo los rendimientos a pesar del estr\u00e9s clim\u00e1tico.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Aumentar la productividad con innovaci\u00f3n, tecnolog\u00eda y productos cada vez m\u00e1s basados en la naturaleza<\/strong>, como productos biol\u00f3gicos, incluidos microorganismos beneficiosos y extractos de plantas.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Escalamiento de la agricultura de precisi\u00f3n<\/strong> aplicando productos fitosanitarios de forma selectiva y s\u00f3lo donde sea necesario para proteger las cosechas.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Promover pr\u00e1cticas regenerativas,<\/strong> incluidos cultivos de cobertura, labranza m\u00ednima y gesti\u00f3n de materia org\u00e1nica para mejorar la salud del suelo, aumentar la captura de carbono y mejorar los rendimientos.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>La Organizaci\u00f3n de las Naciones Unidas para la Alimentaci\u00f3n y la Agricultura (FAO) est\u00e1 preparando un nuevo informe de hoja de ruta que se presentar\u00e1 en la COP30. La innovaci\u00f3n desempe\u00f1ar\u00e1 un papel fundamental en el logro de sus objetivos. Un estudio de Deloitte de noviembre de 20242 se\u00f1al\u00f3 que el 50% de la mejora necesaria en el suministro de alimentos y el 40% de las calor\u00edas adicionales requeridas para alimentar al mundo deben lograrse mediante mejoras aceleradas en la innovaci\u00f3n, la tecnolog\u00eda y la productividad. Otros factores que contribuyen incluyen la reducci\u00f3n de emisiones; la protecci\u00f3n y restauraci\u00f3n del capital natural (21%); la mejora del capital natural (19%); el fomento de la circularidad y la orientaci\u00f3n de las decisiones de los consumidores (6%); y la promoci\u00f3n de cambios en la alimentaci\u00f3n (4%).<\/p>\n<p>El estancamiento actual de la productividad agr\u00edcola mundial (GAP) se destac\u00f3 en el informe de Virginia Tech3, publicado en septiembre de 2025, que muestra que la productividad creci\u00f3 solo 0,761 TP3T a nivel mundial en 2025, todo mientras se espera que la demanda de productos agr\u00edcolas crezca m\u00e1s de 11 TP3T anualmente hasta 2031. Para alcanzar niveles de producci\u00f3n sostenibles que puedan alimentar al planeta, el crecimiento de la productividad debe acelerarse a un promedio de 21 TP3T por a\u00f1o entre 2024 y 2050.<\/p>\n<p>Como parte de las Prioridades de Sostenibilidad de Syngenta, lanzadas en 2024, la empresa busca impulsar la agricultura regenerativa en millones de hect\u00e1reas de tierra en todo el mundo. En Brasil, a trav\u00e9s del programa REVERTE\u00ae, la empresa busca recuperar un mill\u00f3n de hect\u00e1reas de tierras degradadas. Una parte significativa del trabajo se realiza en el bioma del Cerrado, donde Syngenta colabora con The Nature Conservancy. El objetivo de la iniciativa es que la restauraci\u00f3n de tierras degradadas sea la opci\u00f3n m\u00e1s rentable que buscan los agricultores brasile\u00f1os para expandir su producci\u00f3n, en lugar de talar la vegetaci\u00f3n nativa.<\/p>\n<p>Syngenta lanz\u00f3 recientemente un proyecto de restauraci\u00f3n similar en Paraguay para apoyar a los productores del Chaco y la regi\u00f3n Oriental en la adopci\u00f3n de pr\u00e1cticas regenerativas.<\/p>\n<p>En la COP30, el 11 de noviembre de 2025, Syngenta se asociar\u00e1 con The Economist para organizar una mesa redonda de expertos s\u00e9nior titulada &quot;Agricultura para el futuro: Impulsar la productividad agr\u00edcola y proteger el planeta&quot;.
