Los grupos anti-biotecnol\u00f3gicos han continuado su destrucci\u00f3n en 2009; a finales de mayo, el Asociaci\u00f3n Alemana de Obtentores Vegetales <\/a>(BDP) ya inform\u00f3 de seis casos de destrucci\u00f3n de parcelas de investigaci\u00f3n y ocupaciones en Alemania, seg\u00fan un Servicio de Agricultura Exterior del Departamento de Agricultura de EE. UU. (USDA-FAS<\/a>) GANAR <\/a>informe.<\/p>\n

Como en Alemania no se permite el cultivo comercial de cultivos biotecnol\u00f3gicos, los activistas anti-transg\u00e9nicos se est\u00e1n concentrando en campos de investigaci\u00f3n e instalaciones de investigaci\u00f3n. En el caso m\u00e1s reciente, un proyecto de investigaci\u00f3n con 274 manzanos, que estaban alojados en un invernadero de pl\u00e1stico, fue destruido en el Instituto Federal de Investigaci\u00f3n para la Horticultura, el Instituto Julius Kuehn <\/a>cerca de Dresde. En respuesta, el Ministro de Agricultura del Estado de Sachsen, Lothar Kupfer, emiti\u00f3 un comunicado de prensa en el que afirmaba que esta acci\u00f3n provoc\u00f3 un da\u00f1o de aproximadamente $1 mill\u00f3n de d\u00f3lares. Kupfer afirm\u00f3 que esto fue claramente una acci\u00f3n de hostilidad contra el progreso, argumentando que una serie de hechos requieren el apoyo de la biotecnolog\u00eda verde: mayores rendimientos, mejor salud de las plantas y menos necesidad de pesticidas y fertilizantes, todo es en beneficio del medio ambiente. Kupfer tambi\u00e9n se\u00f1al\u00f3 que la biotecnolog\u00eda est\u00e1 presente en la vida moderna, en diferentes vacunas, en detergentes y en muchos alimentos. Kupfer calific\u00f3 lo que sucedi\u00f3 en Dresde como una "acci\u00f3n criminal, y los perpetradores deben rendir cuentas hasta el \u00faltimo centavo".<\/p>\n

En 2008, BDP inform\u00f3 de 26 casos de destrucci\u00f3n de campos y seis casos de ocupaciones de campos. Un grupo de activistas anti-biotecnol\u00f3gicos tambi\u00e9n destruy\u00f3 varias colmenas de abejas en las cercan\u00edas de un campo de cebada biotecnol\u00f3gica de la Universidad de Giessen.
