Sustainable Agriculture in India: New Policies to Address the Challenges of Climate Change

The Government of India is implementing sustainable agriculture policies under the National Mission of Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA), according to an article on SciTech Europa.

According to the Joint Secretary, Department of Agriculture, Cooperation & Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India, the government is “Foreseeing the future risks of climate change” which is likely to impact agricultural growth by establishing policies for sustainable agriculture in India.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) notes that agriculture is a contributor to climate change, with annual emissions from agriculture expected to increase further if the global food demand continues to escalate.
