Staphyt Opens Experimental Station in Morocco

Agrosciences and regulatory CRO Staphyt announced it opened its first phytosanitary experimental station in Meknes, Morocco in March.

Located in a region rich in water resources – thanks to important hydroagricultural infrastructures – Meknes agricultural basin is made up of fertile soils enabling the growth of various high added-value crops. The first phytosanitary trials will be in place as early as April 2018.

The crops available near the experimental station are:

  • Oilseeds (sunflower, peanuts)
  • Vegetable crops (tomato, watermelon, melon, potato, pepper, eggplant, onion, carrot and turnip, artichoke and broccoli)
  • Field crops or cereals (durum wheat, soft wheat, rice, barley, maize, chickpeas, beans)
  • Fruit trees (apple, citrus, rosaceae)Sugar crops (sugar beet and sugar cane)Vine and table grape
  • The administrative procedures for obtaining the GEP approval are underway in Morocco and Staphyt will be able to offer certified trials during 2018.

The manager of the Meknes experimental station is Ahmed Fallah, an agronomist who has worked with Staphyt for three years at one of the company’s stations in France.
