German Chemical Sector Backs ‘White Biotech’

Based in Düsseldorf, the Industrieverbund Mikrobielle Genomforschung (IMG) is receiving support from the Federal Ministry of Education & Research (BMBF), as well as academic research groups. The companies that have thrown support behind the initiative include BASF, Bayer CropScience, BRAIN, Degussa, Henkel, Milupa, Schering, sugar company Südzucker, and Wacker Chemie, along with various SMEs.
