India Converts 800,000 Ha To Agriculture
The government of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh has decided to convert 800,000 hectare (Ha) of barren and unused land into agricultural land over the next four years. Around 5,200,000 Ha of barren land in the state can be converted into agricultural land, said Laxmi Narain Chaudhary, minister for agriculture. “One lakh [100,000] hectare[s] of land has already been converted into agricultural land, within a span of one year,” added Chaudhary.
