Record-High Russian Sunflower Crop

The official sunflower seed crop was 6.4 million metric tons (MMT) in 2005, marking a record-high for the last 15 years, and pushing the total oilseed crop in Russia over 7 MMT in 2005, the first time the country has accomplished the feat.

Despite a 20% export duty, Russia is forecast to export 420,000 metric tons of seeds, according to the US Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agriculture Service (USDA-FAS).
