O Servi\u00e7o Agr\u00edcola Estrangeiro do Departamento de Agricultura dos EUA (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fas.usda.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">USDA-FAS<\/a>) baseou a estimativa revisada em fortes chegadas ao mercado, o que sustenta uma estimativa de safra maior do que a prevista nos estados do centro e do sul.<\/p>\n<p>As chegadas ao mercado at\u00e9 23 de fevereiro atingiram 18,4 milh\u00f5es de fardos (4 milh\u00f5es de toneladas), em compara\u00e7\u00e3o com 16,4 milh\u00f5es de fardos (3,6 milh\u00f5es de toneladas) no mesmo per\u00edodo do ano passado. <a href=\"http:\/\/texmin.nic.in\/cotadbd.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Conselho Consultivo do Algod\u00e3o<\/a> A estimativa para a safra de 2007\/08 \u00e9 de 24,2 milh\u00f5es de fardos, enquanto estimativas de diferentes fontes do setor variam de 22 a 25 milh\u00f5es de fardos (28,0 a 32,0 milh\u00f5es de fardos indianos de 170 kg).<\/p>\n<p>A chegada de algod\u00e3o ao mercado neste ano est\u00e1 muito forte nos estados do centro e sul da \u00cdndia. Estima-se que a chegada atual seja de 74.000 a 78.000 fardos por dia, em compara\u00e7\u00e3o com 63.000 a 66.000 fardos por dia no ano passado. Com a melhora dos pre\u00e7os, os agricultores estariam mantendo estoques maiores de algod\u00e3o em caro\u00e7o do que no ano passado, na expectativa de pre\u00e7os mais altos no final da safra.<\/p>\n<p>Embora o ritmo de chegadas tenha come\u00e7ado a diminuir, espera-se que as chegadas no final da temporada sejam mais expressivas do que no ano passado em Gujarat, Maharashtra e Andhra Pradesh.<\/p>\n<p>A safra recorde de algod\u00e3o de 2007\/08 \u00e9 atribu\u00edda a um aumento significativo na \u00e1rea cultivada com algod\u00e3o Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) e \u00e0s condi\u00e7\u00f5es clim\u00e1ticas favor\u00e1veis em todo o pa\u00eds. Fontes do setor relatam que a \u00e1rea cultivada com sementes de algod\u00e3o Bt oficialmente aprovadas nesta temporada atingiu 6,2 milh\u00f5es de hectares (ha), um aumento de 631 toneladas em rela\u00e7\u00e3o ao ano anterior. Algumas fontes do setor acreditam que haja tamb\u00e9m cerca de 1,5 milh\u00e3o de hectares cultivados com sementes de algod\u00e3o Bt n\u00e3o aprovadas.<\/p>\n<p>Esses n\u00fameros indicam que o algod\u00e3o Bt agora representa mais de 801 TP3T da \u00e1rea total cultivada com algod\u00e3o. O aumento da participa\u00e7\u00e3o do algod\u00e3o Bt no plantio total contribuiu para a produtividade recorde da safra atual, limitando as perdas por pragas e apresentando maior potencial de rendimento em compara\u00e7\u00e3o com as variedades tradicionais.
