Bayer CropScience's<\/a> neg\u00f3cio de sementes vegetais Nunhems<\/a> investir\u00e1 EUR 12 milh\u00f5es na expans\u00e3o e moderniza\u00e7\u00e3o de seu centro de pesquisa no munic\u00edpio de Leudal, Holanda. O edif\u00edcio de pesquisa existente ser\u00e1 ampliado de 2.200 metros quadrados para um tamanho total de 6.400 metros quadrados e ser\u00e1 equipado com laborat\u00f3rios de \u00faltima gera\u00e7\u00e3o para os Servi\u00e7os de Biotecnologia da Nunhems, como an\u00e1lises de DNA, bem como para Tecnologia de Sementes, Biologia Celular e Melhoramento Molecular. As instala\u00e7\u00f5es de pesquisa ampliadas e modernizadas est\u00e3o programadas para estarem totalmente operacionais at\u00e9 o final de 2011.<\/p>\n

O Dr. Joachim Schneider, chefe de BioScience na Bayer CropScience, considera o investimento um passo a mais na expans\u00e3o estrat\u00e9gica do neg\u00f3cio: \u201cAo atualizar nossas instala\u00e7\u00f5es de pesquisa, estaremos em uma posi\u00e7\u00e3o ainda melhor para desenvolver variedades inovadoras de sementes de vegetais com bons rendimentos, resist\u00eancia a doen\u00e7as e excelente qualidade.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cA tecnologia est\u00e1 evoluindo rapidamente e se tornou um componente competitivo no melhoramento vegetal\u201d, comenta o Dr. Johan Peleman, diretor administrativo de pesquisa e desenvolvimento da Nunhems. A Nunhems segue uma abordagem de \u201cMelhoramento Integrado\u201d, onde a tecnologia \u00e9 parte integrante das atividades de melhoramento.
