A maior empresa de prote\u00e7\u00e3o de cultivos do mundo relata que o volume de vendas de todas as principais categorias de produtos \u00e9 maior em compara\u00e7\u00e3o ao ano passado, o que significa tend\u00eancias positivas de compra por parte dos agricultores e um setor agr\u00edcola global saud\u00e1vel.<\/p>\n

Prote\u00e7\u00e3o de Cultivos Syngenta<\/a>, com vendas globais de $11 bilh\u00f5es em 2009, est\u00e1 investindo pesadamente em sua tecnologia de sementes e caracter\u00edsticas, Agrisure, para crescimento cont\u00ednuo. A Syngenta discutiu suas estrat\u00e9gias de crescimento, o mercado global, sustentabilidade e tecnologias de otimiza\u00e7\u00e3o de rendimento esta semana durante seu Media Summit de 2010 em San Antonio, Texas, EUA.<\/p>\n

\u201cEstamos mostrando crescimento em todas as principais linhas de produtos, e o crescimento do volume est\u00e1 superando a press\u00e3o de pre\u00e7os que estamos enfrentando\u201d, diz Vern Hawkins, presidente da Syngenta Crop Protection North America.<\/p>\n

Hawkins disse FCI <\/em>ele acha que os pre\u00e7os do glifosato est\u00e3o t\u00e3o baixos quanto podem ir, sinalizando o fim da imprevisibilidade que atormentava o ativo desde 2008. Mas, \u00e0 medida que os pre\u00e7os estabilizam a proje\u00e7\u00e3o de lucro, as empresas provavelmente voltar\u00e3o sua energia para capturar mais participa\u00e7\u00e3o de mercado em pa\u00edses-chave. A Syngenta faz metade de seus neg\u00f3cios em economias desenvolvidas e metade em mercados emergentes, particularmente Am\u00e9rica do Sul e \u00c1sia.<\/p>\n

Hawkins diz que a Syngenta est\u00e1 comprometida em encontrar novas ferramentas para complementar o glifosato, j\u00e1 que problemas de resist\u00eancia continuam a amea\u00e7ar a longevidade e a viabilidade do herbicida mais usado no mundo.<\/p>\n

Como muitas grandes empresas de P&D, a Syngenta est\u00e1 canalizando uma parcela cada vez maior de seu or\u00e7amento para biotecnologia. Dos $1 bilh\u00f5es que gastou em 2009 em P&D, cerca de 40% foram alocados para sementes e caracter\u00edsticas, de acordo com dados da consultoria de pesquisa Phillips McDougall. Ela tem o terceiro maior or\u00e7amento de P&D, atr\u00e1s da Monsanto e da Pioneer da DuPont, embora seu investimento em P&D em qu\u00edmica tradicional ainda seja significativo, atr\u00e1s apenas da Bayer e muito compar\u00e1vel \u00e0 BASF.<\/p>\n

Grande parte de sua pesquisa e desenvolvimento impulsiona sua tecnologia Agrisure recentemente lan\u00e7ada. Agrisure Viptera, um novo modo de a\u00e7\u00e3o inseticida que usa controles de prote\u00edna em conjunto com Bt. \u00c9 eficaz em 14 insetos diferentes e ser\u00e1 comercializado em 2011 no milho para controlar vermes da raiz, broca do milho, lagartas do ex\u00e9rcito e uma ampla gama de Lepid\u00f3ptero<\/em>.<\/p>\n

A Syngenta tamb\u00e9m estrear\u00e1 o primeiro milho otimizado para \u00e1gua do mundo no ano que vem. Sua tecnologia Agrisure Artesian estar\u00e1 dispon\u00edvel no cintur\u00e3o de milho ocidental nos EUA.
