Douglas Nelson, vice-presidente executivo, conselheiro geral e secret\u00e1rio da CropLife America, focou na capacidade coletiva do mundo de alimentar uma popula\u00e7\u00e3o mundial crescente, especificamente na elimina\u00e7\u00e3o de barreiras comerciais que inibem a dissemina\u00e7\u00e3o de tecnologias agroqu\u00edmicas muito necess\u00e1rias para na\u00e7\u00f5es em desenvolvimento. Usando produtores dos EUA como exemplo, Nelson forneceu alguns dados reveladores que mostraram os aumentos dr\u00e1sticos na produtividade provocados pelo advento da tecnologia de prote\u00e7\u00e3o de cultivos.<\/p>\n

A apresenta\u00e7\u00e3o de Nelson tamb\u00e9m incluiu atualiza\u00e7\u00f5es sobre alguns acordos em desenvolvimento. Uma discuss\u00e3o sobre a Parceria Transpac\u00edfica (TPP) em particular atraiu bastante interesse entre os participantes. Atualmente em negocia\u00e7\u00e3o, a TPP inclui os EUA, Nova Zel\u00e2ndia, Cingapura, Vietn\u00e3, Brunei, Austr\u00e1lia, Peru e Chile. Nelson disse que o acordo parece ter bastante potencial, em parte por causa da aus\u00eancia da Uni\u00e3o Europeia nas negocia\u00e7\u00f5es. "A UE provou ser um parceiro de negocia\u00e7\u00e3o muito dif\u00edcil", disse Nelson.<\/p>\n
