As Na\u00e7\u00f5es Unidas Organiza\u00e7\u00e3o das Na\u00e7\u00f5es Unidas para a Alimenta\u00e7\u00e3o e a Agricultura <\/a>(FAO) estima que os estoques globais de arroz transferidos para o ano atual sejam 9 milh\u00f5es de toneladas (tm) maiores do que no ano passado, e o maior desde 2002, A linha de neg\u00f3cios hindu <\/a>relat\u00f3rios. Globalmente, as reservas de arroz deste ano devem cobrir 25,8% de utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o planejada em 2009, acima dos 24,4% em 2008.<\/p>\n

A FAO espera que todas as 9 mt do aumento sejam concentradas em pa\u00edses em desenvolvimento, que s\u00e3o previstos com um carryover de 115 mt. Estoques maiores s\u00e3o encontrados em pa\u00edses asi\u00e1ticos como Bangladesh (aumento de 0,65 mt); China (5 mt); \u00cdndia (1,5 mt), Indon\u00e9sia (0,2 mt); Coreia do Sul (0,31 mt); Paquist\u00e3o (0,2 mt); Ar\u00e1bia Saudita (0,14 mt); e Vietn\u00e3 (0,2 mt).<\/p>\n

Espera-se que os pre\u00e7os do arroz caiam em vista da crise econ\u00f4mica; a FAO disse que as taxas continuaram a cair desde o pico em maio do ano passado, devido em parte a v\u00e1rios programas sendo implementados na China, Tail\u00e2ndia, Paquist\u00e3o e Vietn\u00e3 voltados para sustentar os pre\u00e7os do produtor ou de exporta\u00e7\u00e3o. A FAO disse que o mercado precisaria se equilibrar em pre\u00e7os mais baixos este ano.<\/p>\n

Com base nas estimativas de produ\u00e7\u00e3o de 2008, espera-se que a utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o de arroz em 2009 seja 2,2% maior, para 448 mt, com o consumo de arroz como alimento projetado para aumentar 1,8%, para 386 mt.
