Os produtores de milho espanh\u00f3is diminu\u00edram o total de hectares plantados de milho (todas as variedades e tipos) desde o recorde alcan\u00e7ado em 2001, mas as redu\u00e7\u00f5es est\u00e3o relacionadas, em grande parte, \u00e0 escassez de \u00e1gua para irriga\u00e7\u00e3o e, mais recentemente, \u00e0 seca severa.<\/p>\n

No entanto, durante o mesmo per\u00edodo de considera\u00e7\u00e3o, os produtores espanh\u00f3is de milho em regi\u00f5es onde a broca do milho \u00e9 proeminente aumentaram as planta\u00e7\u00f5es biotecnol\u00f3gicas. As estat\u00edsticas pintam um quadro claro do valor que os avan\u00e7os tecnol\u00f3gicos modernos na cria\u00e7\u00e3o de sementes de milho t\u00eam para os produtores de milho em \u00e1reas onde a broca do milho \u00e9 dif\u00edcil ou imposs\u00edvel de controlar por meio de outros m\u00e9todos de controle de pragas. As regi\u00f5es de Arag\u00e3o e Catalunha s\u00e3o as mais suscet\u00edveis \u00e0 infesta\u00e7\u00e3o da broca do milho e, desde 2001, os agricultores nessas duas Regi\u00f5es Aut\u00f4nomas aumentaram drasticamente as planta\u00e7\u00f5es de milho biotecnol\u00f3gico.<\/p>\n

O milho biotecnol\u00f3gico plantado e colhido na Espanha \u00e9 usado exclusivamente na produ\u00e7\u00e3o de ra\u00e7\u00f5es compostas, onde \u00e9 rotulado para conter \u201corganismos geneticamente modificados\u201d antes de ser vendido para uso na robusta ind\u00fastria pecu\u00e1ria da Espanha. A ind\u00fastria de ra\u00e7\u00f5es compostas rotula todas as ra\u00e7\u00f5es com o mesmo aviso de \u201cOGM\u201d, porque n\u00e3o h\u00e1 impedimento pol\u00edtico, social ou econ\u00f4mico para faz\u00ea-lo, e porque \u00e9 o meio mais econ\u00f4mico de lidar com a legisla\u00e7\u00e3o de rotulagem e rastreabilidade obrigat\u00f3ria da CE.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
