HAN\u00d3I, Vietn\u00e3 \u2013 Empresas se reuniram em Han\u00f3i, Vietn\u00e3, para o Congresso Internacional do Arroz de 2010, realizado de 8 a 12 de novembro.<\/p>\n

O evento deste ano focou no aumento da produ\u00e7\u00e3o de arroz. Arroz, de acordo com Bayer CropScience<\/a>, \u00e9 um alimento b\u00e1sico para quase metade da popula\u00e7\u00e3o mundial. Como um dos patrocinadores do evento, a Bayer defendeu o desenvolvimento de novas sementes de arroz h\u00edbrido combinando alto potencial de rendimento, qualidade do gr\u00e3o e resist\u00eancia melhorada a pragas, doen\u00e7as e estresses, de acordo com a empresa.<\/p>\n

A empresa tamb\u00e9m aumentou sua pesquisa sobre produtos de prote\u00e7\u00e3o de cultivos e est\u00e1 trabalhando para desenvolver e implementar novas t\u00e9cnicas agr\u00edcolas e treinamento para agricultores.<\/p>\n

\u201cCom mais de 65 por cento da fome mundial na \u00c1sia, o progresso na produtividade do arroz ainda est\u00e1 atrasado em rela\u00e7\u00e3o aos avan\u00e7os de outras culturas\u201d, disse Mike Mack, CEO da Syngenta, em uma declara\u00e7\u00e3o preparada. \u201cA colabora\u00e7\u00e3o e as parcerias devem ser adotadas mais amplamente se quisermos construir um meio de vida sustent\u00e1vel nas economias rurais para os pequenos agricultores do mundo, incluindo os mais de 200 milh\u00f5es de produtores de arroz na \u00c1sia, ao mesmo tempo em que ajudamos a atender \u00e0 seguran\u00e7a alimentar.\u201d<\/p>\n
