Em 2007, ap\u00f3s o Servi\u00e7o Agr\u00edcola e Pecu\u00e1rio (SAG) do Minist\u00e9rio da Agricultura do Chile autorizar o plantio de sementes transg\u00eanicas em 24.921 hectares, o milho transg\u00eanico foi plantado em 941 TP3T da \u00e1rea.<\/p>\n<p>A Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Sociedades Sustent\u00e1veis (FSS) e o Programa Chile Sustent\u00e1vel \u2013 uma rede de organiza\u00e7\u00f5es n\u00e3o governamentais de v\u00e1rios pa\u00edses sul-americanos \u2013 contrataram o INTA para analisar 30 amostras de milho. Os dois grupos apresentaram os resultados \u00e0 Ministra da Agricultura, Marigen Hornkohl, em 23 de outubro, solicitando estudos independentes para determinar a extens\u00e3o da contamina\u00e7\u00e3o e promulgar leis que pro\u00edbam o cultivo de transg\u00eanicos no pa\u00eds. O pr\u00f3ximo passo ser\u00e1 informar os agricultores cujas lavouras foram afetadas e decidir sobre a possibilidade de entrar com a\u00e7\u00f5es judiciais.<\/p>\n<p>Romilio Espejo, chefe do laborat\u00f3rio de biotecnologia do INTA, confirmou \u00e0 IPS que &quot;uma pequena quantidade de transg\u00eanicos&quot; foi encontrada em quatro amostras. Tr\u00eas delas continham 0,03% de organismos geneticamente modificados e a quarta, 0,13%. O INTA informou que as amostras restantes continham menos de 0,01%, &quot;o limite de detec\u00e7\u00e3o do m\u00e9todo&quot;. Segundo Espejo, &quot;n\u00e3o se pode afirmar que elas sejam livres de transg\u00eanicos, mas apenas que cont\u00eam menos de 0,01%&quot;.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSe a fonte da contamina\u00e7\u00e3o for milho transg\u00eanico vendido mundialmente para alimenta\u00e7\u00e3o, n\u00e3o seria um grande problema, mas se a fonte for milho transg\u00eanico produzido para outros fins, ou que ainda n\u00e3o foi aprovado como isento de riscos para a popula\u00e7\u00e3o, ent\u00e3o \u00e9 preocupante, mesmo que a contamina\u00e7\u00e3o esteja em um n\u00edvel muito baixo\u201d, disse Espejo. \u201cN\u00e3o acho que (os resultados) devam causar alarme sobre o consumo de milho no Chile, mas s\u00e3o um alerta de que \u00e9 necess\u00e1rio mais controle sobre o que est\u00e1 acontecendo com o milho cultivado neste pa\u00eds\u201d, disse ele.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As culturas transg\u00eanicas no Chile s\u00f3 podem ser cultivadas para obten\u00e7\u00e3o de sementes para exporta\u00e7\u00e3o;
