Essa diferen\u00e7a de tempo entre a UE e os EUA \u2013 que leva cerca de um ano para autorizar novos transg\u00eanicos \u2013 reduziu as importa\u00e7\u00f5es e fez com que os pre\u00e7os de ra\u00e7\u00f5es e alimentos na UE disparassem. Dados da UE mostram que a diferen\u00e7a de pre\u00e7o entre ra\u00e7\u00f5es transg\u00eanicas e n\u00e3o transg\u00eanicas gira em torno de \u00a3 50 por tonelada.<\/p>\n<p>O Primeiro Ministro Gordon Brown afirmou: \u201cO aumento do interesse popular em quest\u00f5es de pol\u00edtica alimentar e a crescente conscientiza\u00e7\u00e3o p\u00fablica sobre o impacto do que escolhemos comer em tudo, desde o bem-estar animal at\u00e9 a nossa sa\u00fade e a prote\u00e7\u00e3o do meio ambiente, provocaram uma transforma\u00e7\u00e3o massiva na cultura alimentar brit\u00e2nica nos \u00faltimos dez anos.
