OTHELLO, Washington, Estados Unidos \u2014 Monsanto<\/a> inaugurou hoje sua mais nova unidade de melhoramento de milho em Othello, Washington, de acordo com a empresa.<\/p>\n

A nova instala\u00e7\u00e3o de 15.000 p\u00e9s quadrados, que emprega cinco trabalhadores em per\u00edodo integral e aproximadamente 100 trabalhadores em meio per\u00edodo e sazonais, \u00e9 a primeira do tipo da Monsanto nos Estados Unidos, de acordo com a empresa.<\/p>\n

\u201cOs pesquisadores da Monsanto se esfor\u00e7am para levar aos agricultores o melhor produto poss\u00edvel para seus campos e ajudar a melhorar a produtividade na fazenda\u201d, disse Sam Eathington, vice-presidente de melhoramento global de plantas da Monsanto em uma declara\u00e7\u00e3o preparada. \u201cA esta\u00e7\u00e3o de melhoramento de milho Othello \u00e9 parte integrante da miss\u00e3o, complementando o programa de melhoramento global da Monsanto e se juntando a uma rede de mais de 50 esta\u00e7\u00f5es de melhoramento de milho localizadas ao redor do mundo.\u201d<\/p>\n

A esta\u00e7\u00e3o de melhoramento ser\u00e1 dedicada exclusivamente ao uso da tecnologia de melhoramento avan\u00e7ado haploide duplo para ajudar os melhoristas da Monsanto a fornecer melhores sementes de milho para os agricultores. Nos pr\u00f3ximos 10 anos, cerca de 50 por cento das novas linhagens de milho na Am\u00e9rica do Norte ter\u00e3o passado pela Othello, de acordo com a empresa.<\/p>\n
