A nova atividade integra a Global Climate Change Initiative do governo dos EUA em sua iniciativa Feed the Future. Bangladesh \u00e9 um pa\u00eds priorit\u00e1rio para ambas as iniciativas.<\/p>\n<p>As fazendas de arroz respondem por 85% das terras agr\u00edcolas de Bangladesh e emitem gases de efeito estufa na forma de di\u00f3xido de carbono, metano e \u00f3xido nitroso. O escoamento de excesso de nitrog\u00eanio e f\u00f3sforo pode impactar severamente os habitats costeiros e de \u00e1reas \u00famidas, e o manejo ineficaz de planta\u00e7\u00f5es, solos, \u00e1gua e nutrientes n\u00e3o s\u00f3 leva a menores rendimentos e uso ineficiente de recursos, mas tamb\u00e9m resulta em maiores taxas de emiss\u00e3o de GEE.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cO FDP provavelmente reduzir\u00e1 significativamente as emiss\u00f5es de GEE, particularmente as emiss\u00f5es de \u00f3xido nitroso e \u00f3xido n\u00edtrico, e mitigar\u00e1 ainda mais as mudan\u00e7as clim\u00e1ticas ao reduzir substancialmente as perdas por volatiliza\u00e7\u00e3o de am\u00f4nia e o processo de nitrifica\u00e7\u00e3o nas \u00e1reas \u00famidas\u201d, disse o Dr. Upendra Singh, cientista principal do IFDC em modelagem de sistemas (fertilidade do solo).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cO projeto AAPI est\u00e1 expandindo a tecnologia FDP para mais de um milh\u00e3o de hectares envolvendo 2,5 milh\u00f5es de agricultores\u201d, disse John Allgood, diretor da Divis\u00e3o EurAsia da IFDC. \u201cAo todo, a tecnologia FDP \u00e9 usada em mais de 12% de terras de cultivo de arroz de Bangladesh. A tecnologia FDP est\u00e1 ajudando a aumentar os rendimentos e reduzir o custo da fertiliza\u00e7\u00e3o. Ela tamb\u00e9m ajuda a reduzir os impactos negativos nos ecossistemas de Bangladesh e, portanto, contribui para a resili\u00eancia do pa\u00eds \u00e0s mudan\u00e7as clim\u00e1ticas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A IFDC, com financiamento da Alian\u00e7a para uma Revolu\u00e7\u00e3o Verde na \u00c1frica (AGRA), tamb\u00e9m lan\u00e7ou sua Plataforma de TIC chamada Mfarms para dar suporte \u00e0 introdu\u00e7\u00e3o de solu\u00e7\u00f5es empresariais na agricultura.<\/p>\n<p>Mfarms \u00e9 uma plataforma baseada na web e em celulares (www.mfarms.org), que fornece ferramentas acess\u00edveis para construir v\u00ednculos, melhorar as comunica\u00e7\u00f5es e efici\u00eancias operacionais entre os atores ao longo da cadeia de valor agr\u00edcola. A plataforma foi desenvolvida pela Image-AD Ltd, uma empresa ganesa.<\/p>\n<p>A plataforma, que tem um alto potencial para tornar a agricultura e o agroneg\u00f3cio um empreendimento lucrativo, \u00e9 projetada para criar efici\u00eancias operacionais ao permitir que organiza\u00e7\u00f5es, associa\u00e7\u00f5es e grupos identific\u00e1veis atendam a um grande n\u00famero de seus membros ou afiliados geograficamente dispersos.
