ACE \u00e9 um processo que funcionar\u00e1 em plantas de etanol em tangente com a caracter\u00edstica gen\u00e9tica do milho Enogen da Syngenta para permitir mais facilmente que part\u00edculas r\u00edgidas de gr\u00e3os de milho fibrosos sejam convertidas em combust\u00edvel de etanol junto com amido male\u00e1vel.<\/p>\n<p>O an\u00fancio ocorre enquanto a ind\u00fastria de prote\u00e7\u00e3o de cultivos aguarda a decis\u00e3o da EPA <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ibtimes.com\/biofuel-supporters-ask-us-government-continue-fuel-mandate-1569079\">decis\u00e3o esperada<\/a> sobre modifica\u00e7\u00f5es em regulamenta\u00e7\u00f5es de combust\u00edvel renov\u00e1vel em junho. Ela tamb\u00e9m aumenta a quantidade de prote\u00edna em gr\u00e3os de destilaria secos, um subproduto da produ\u00e7\u00e3o de combust\u00edvel que \u00e9 usado para alimentar o gado e que se tornou mais popular \u00e0 medida que o interesse em etanol e biocombust\u00edveis aumentou nos \u00faltimos anos, de acordo com um <a href=\"http:\/\/ohioline.osu.edu\/as-fact\/distillers.html\">Universidade Estadual de Ohio<\/a>\u00a0relat\u00f3rio de extens\u00e3o.<\/p>\n<p>De acordo com um comunicado \u00e0 imprensa, a Syngenta projetou o recurso Enogen especificamente para maximizar a produ\u00e7\u00e3o de etanol.<\/p>\n<p>O COO da Syngenta, Davor Pisk, disse em um comunicado \u00e0 imprensa: \u201cA ado\u00e7\u00e3o do Enogen em plantas de etanol est\u00e1 acelerando, com seis contratos comerciais assinados. A introdu\u00e7\u00e3o da tecnologia ACE impulsionar\u00e1 ainda mais o crescimento. Ela tem o potencial de melhorar substancialmente tanto a lucratividade quanto a sustentabilidade das plantas de etanol, permitindo que elas produzam mais energia com menos recursos.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A Syngenta declarou em um comunicado \u00e0 imprensa que a tecnologia ACE ser\u00e1 implementada em planta\u00e7\u00f5es em Iowa em maio de 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Delayne Johnson, CEO da Quad County Corn Processors (QCCP), empresa controladora da Cellulosic Ethanol Technologies, disse em um comunicado \u00e0 imprensa: \u201cA combina\u00e7\u00e3o da tecnologia ACE e do milho Enogen deve gerar sinergias significativas quando usadas juntas em plantas de etanol de moagem a seco. Este lan\u00e7amento representa um grande avan\u00e7o na produ\u00e7\u00e3o de etanol celul\u00f3sico.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Originalmente estabelecido como parte da Lei de Pol\u00edtica Energ\u00e9tica (EPAct) de 2005, o <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epa.gov\/OTAQ\/fuels\/renewablefuels\/\">Programa Padr\u00e3o de Combust\u00edvel Renov\u00e1vel (RFS)<\/a> determinou que 7,5 bilh\u00f5es de gal\u00f5es de combust\u00edvel renov\u00e1vel tinham que ser misturados \u00e0 gasolina at\u00e9 o ano de 2012. A EPA atualizou o programa RFS em 2007 para criar novos cronogramas para maiores quantidades de misturas de combust\u00edvel. Tamb\u00e9m criou novas categoriza\u00e7\u00f5es de combust\u00edveis renov\u00e1veis, regulamenta\u00e7\u00f5es para \u00f3leo diesel e diretrizes para o uso de padr\u00f5es de gases de efeito estufa para medir o desempenho do combust\u00edvel.<\/p>\n<p>Um tribunal federal de apela\u00e7\u00f5es decidiu em <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2013\/01\/26\/business\/energy-environment\/court-overturns-epas-biofuels-mandate.html?_r=0\">Janeiro de 2013<\/a> em favor de uma reivindica\u00e7\u00e3o do Instituto Americano de Petr\u00f3leo de que os padr\u00f5es de mistura contidos no programa RFS para combust\u00edveis celul\u00f3sicos eram muito dif\u00edceis de serem atendidos.
