A Bayer CropScience adquiriu uma licen\u00e7a plurianual para usar o software de visualiza\u00e7\u00e3o do genoma desenvolvido pela Ceres Inc., anunciou hoje a empresa de biotecnologia agr\u00edcola em um comunicado. Comunicado de imprensa<\/a>.<\/p>\n

O software Persephone da empresa permite que pesquisadores analisem grandes quantidades de dados gen\u00e9ticos em n\u00edveis macro e micro, de cromossomos a blocos de constru\u00e7\u00e3o de DNA individuais. Assim como o software de mapeamento de sistemas de informa\u00e7\u00f5es geogr\u00e1ficas (GIS) permite que os usu\u00e1rios adicionem informa\u00e7\u00f5es sobre clima, tr\u00e2nsito ou outras informa\u00e7\u00f5es a um mapa geogr\u00e1fico, os usu\u00e1rios do Persephone podem adicionar camadas e fazer refer\u00eancia cruzada de informa\u00e7\u00f5es relacionadas sobre os dados gen\u00e9ticos que o software re\u00fane.<\/p>\n

\u201cA explos\u00e3o do sequenciamento de DNA de genoma completo de baixo custo, da ci\u00eancia vegetal \u00e0 pesquisa biom\u00e9dica, est\u00e1 criando conjuntos de dados incrivelmente grandes que s\u00e3o fontes ricas de informa\u00e7\u00f5es se explorados de forma eficaz\u201d, disse o presidente e CEO da Ceres, Richard Hamilton.<\/p>\n

Por exemplo, um genoma t\u00edpico cont\u00e9m v\u00e1rios terabytes de dados. Genomas de plantas, que podem ser maiores do que o genoma humano, t\u00eam sido alguns dos mais desafiadores. A empresa usou esse software em seus pipelines de melhoramento assistido por marcadores e caracter\u00edsticas biotecnol\u00f3gicas para acelerar o desenvolvimento de linhas de melhoramento parental de elite e h\u00edbridos de sorgo melhorados para o Brasil.
