Os pesquisadores sediados na Holanda estudaram o efeito que a contamina\u00e7\u00e3o da \u00e1gua da superf\u00edcie teve em 15 esp\u00e9cies de p\u00e1ssaros e descobriram:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEm concentra\u00e7\u00f5es de imidacloprida de mais de 20 nanogramas por litro, as popula\u00e7\u00f5es de p\u00e1ssaros tenderam a declinar em 3,5% em m\u00e9dia anualmente. An\u00e1lises adicionais revelaram que esse padr\u00e3o espacial de decl\u00ednio apareceu somente ap\u00f3s a introdu\u00e7\u00e3o do imidacloprida na Holanda, em meados da d\u00e9cada de 1990.\u201d<br \/>\nSemelhante a uma mir\u00edade de estudos sobre abelhas que circulam hoje, este novo estudo sobre p\u00e1ssaros \u00e9 apenas uma teoria. Mais da metade (oito de 15) das popula\u00e7\u00f5es de p\u00e1ssaros estudadas est\u00e3o est\u00e1veis ou aumentaram. Isso significa que este estudo poderia ter sido interpretado como se o imidacloprido n\u00e3o tivesse efeito em algumas popula\u00e7\u00f5es de p\u00e1ssaros, o que \u00e9 o caso na maioria dos estudos de esp\u00e9cies.<\/p>\n<p>Os autores ainda admitem que n\u00e3o t\u00eam certeza do motivo pelo qual as popula\u00e7\u00f5es de p\u00e1ssaros est\u00e3o diminuindo, ou seja, se o imidacloprido pode estar matando os p\u00e1ssaros diretamente ou se h\u00e1 apenas menos insetos para comer.
