Foto de: Mike Lewis, CISR, UC Riverside.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Uma equipe de pesquisa da Universidade da Calif\u00f3rnia (Riverside) mirou no sistema olfativo do psil\u00eddeo asi\u00e1tico dos citros (ACP) em um esfor\u00e7o para modificar o comportamento da praga e evitar que ela espalhe uma bact\u00e9ria que causa uma doen\u00e7a letal dos citros, o huanglongbing (HLB), uma das doen\u00e7as mais destrutivas dos citros no mundo.<\/p>\n<p>ACP-HLB \u00e9 uma amea\u00e7a \u00e0 ind\u00fastria c\u00edtrica anual de $2 bilh\u00f5es da Calif\u00f3rnia. Essa combina\u00e7\u00e3o inseto-doen\u00e7a custou \u00e0 ind\u00fastria c\u00edtrica da Fl\u00f3rida $1,3 bilh\u00e3o em perdas, e os custos de produ\u00e7\u00e3o aumentaram em 40%.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cO sistema olfativo do ACP \u00e9 sens\u00edvel a uma variedade de odorantes liberados por plantas c\u00edtricas.
