De 1995 a 2013, a exposi\u00e7\u00e3o a carbamatos, incluindo o metomil, provenientes de alimentos, caiu aproximadamente 70%. A a\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 uma continua\u00e7\u00e3o dos esfor\u00e7os da EPA para reduzir o uso de carbamatos, protegendo assim a sa\u00fade das pessoas, especialmente a sa\u00fade de crian\u00e7as, que podem ser mais sens\u00edveis a pesticidas.<\/p>\n<p>A EPA identificou riscos para a \u00e1gua pot\u00e1vel durante a avalia\u00e7\u00e3o peri\u00f3dica do metomil e negociou com os fabricantes o cancelamento volunt\u00e1rio de certos usos. O cancelamento volunt\u00e1rio \u00e9 a maneira mais r\u00e1pida de eliminar riscos.<\/p>\n<p>Embora Fl\u00f3rida e Calif\u00f3rnia sejam as \u00e1reas de maior preocupa\u00e7\u00e3o quanto aos riscos de metomil na \u00e1gua pot\u00e1vel, as seguintes medidas ser\u00e3o implementadas em todo o pa\u00eds:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0cancelando o uso em cevada, aveia e centeio;<\/li>\n<li>limitando seu uso no trigo para Idaho, Oregon e Washington;<\/li>\n<li>reduzindo o n\u00famero de aplica\u00e7\u00f5es em milho, aipo e alface americana e de folhas; e,<\/li>\n<li>reduzindo o n\u00famero de aplica\u00e7\u00f5es e a taxa m\u00e1xima de aplica\u00e7\u00e3o sazonal para pimentas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Essas medidas est\u00e3o sendo implementadas gradualmente, garantindo a implementa\u00e7\u00e3o oportuna das mudan\u00e7as para diversas culturas.<\/p>\n<p>A EPA e os fabricantes chegaram a um acordo para interromper a fabrica\u00e7\u00e3o e a venda de alguns produtos de isca para mosca e para adicionar informa\u00e7\u00f5es ao r\u00f3tulo que esclare\u00e7am os usos aprovados. A EPA acredita que essas mudan\u00e7as reduzir\u00e3o o uso ilegal de produtos de isca para mosca com metomil, que podem matar animais selvagens, um problema relatado \u00e0 EPA por v\u00e1rios estados.<\/p>\n<p>Registrado pela primeira vez em 1968 e reregistrado em 1998, o metomil \u00e9 restrito e deve ser usado apenas por aplicadores certificados e treinados, n\u00e3o tendo uso residencial. O \u00fanico uso n\u00e3o agr\u00edcola do metomil \u00e9 em iscas para moscas.<\/p>\n<p>A EPA dar\u00e1 continuidade ao processo de revis\u00e3o do registro do metomil. O pr\u00f3ximo passo nesse processo \u00e9 a divulga\u00e7\u00e3o do rascunho da avalia\u00e7\u00e3o de risco do metomil em 2016. Em novembro de 2014, a EPA solicitou coment\u00e1rios p\u00fablicos sobre os pedidos de cancelamento volunt\u00e1rio do uso do metomil em cevada, aveia e centeio. Nenhum coment\u00e1rio foi recebido.
