Warren e Joy Darling, de Timaru, na Ilha Sul do pa\u00eds, quebraram o recorde anterior de 12,2 toneladas, mantido pelo produtor escoc\u00eas Stockton Park desde 1989. Na Nova Zel\u00e2ndia, o rendimento m\u00e9dio da cevada de inverno, o tipo cultivado pelos Darlings, \u00e9 de cerca de 9,5 toneladas por hectare.
