Simbi\u00f3ticos NewLeaf<\/a> anunciou que os Escrit\u00f3rios de Patentes Europeu e Japon\u00eas conceder\u00e3o patentes para o processo de produ\u00e7\u00e3o fundamental da empresa. Em 2015, o Escrit\u00f3rio de Patentes e Marcas dos EUA concedeu a Patente n\u00ba 9.181.541, abrangendo amplamente a tecnologia de produ\u00e7\u00e3o patenteada da NewLeaf. A tecnologia divulgada nas patentes permite a produ\u00e7\u00e3o r\u00e1pida e econ\u00f4mica de grandes quantidades de Metil\u00f3trofos Facultativos Pigmentados de Rosa (PPFM), uma bact\u00e9ria ben\u00e9fica natural que pode melhorar o rendimento e a toler\u00e2ncia a pragas em culturas tratadas.<\/p>\n

As bact\u00e9rias PPFM vivem em todas as superf\u00edcies e no interior das plantas. Elas formam rela\u00e7\u00f5es simbi\u00f3ticas complexas com plantas hospedeiras e com outros micr\u00f3bios no ambiente. As PPFM utilizam metanol e outros res\u00edduos vegetais e produzem os nutrientes necess\u00e1rios que a planta absorve.
