A \u00e1rea cultivada para as quatro culturas permanecer\u00e1 relativamente est\u00e1vel ou diminuir\u00e1 nos pr\u00f3ximos 10 anos.<br \/>\nTodd Davis, economista agr\u00edcola de extens\u00e3o da Universidade de Kentucky, concorda que margens mais estreitas est\u00e3o contribuindo para menos uso da terra. Ele diz que os fazendeiros est\u00e3o apertando os cintos porque \u00e9 mais dif\u00edcil para eles garantir empr\u00e9stimos.<br \/>\n\u201cEstou lendo mais sobre como os credores est\u00e3o monitorando os fluxos de caixa mais do que nos anos anteriores\u201d, diz Davis. \u201cE isso vai depender mais do que antes de quanta garantia (os fazendeiros) t\u00eam.\u201d<br \/>\nO clima tamb\u00e9m desempenhar\u00e1 um papel na taxa de produ\u00e7\u00e3o dos EUA em 2017. Meyer diz que o clima foi excepcionalmente bom em 2016. Os fazendeiros n\u00e3o devem esperar uma repeti\u00e7\u00e3o em 2017, quando o clima desfavor\u00e1vel provavelmente tirar\u00e1 mais terras da produ\u00e7\u00e3o. Apenas soja e algod\u00e3o devem aumentar em \u00e1rea em 2017.<br \/>\nHurt diz que a soja \u00e9 a safra quente de 2017. Comparada a duas outras grandes safras do Centro-Oeste, trigo e milho, a soja ser\u00e1 mais lucrativa para os agricultores, com um pre\u00e7o de mais de $9 o bushel. Em compara\u00e7\u00e3o, o milho est\u00e1 a mais de $3 o bushel, enquanto o USDA prev\u00ea que o trigo atingir\u00e1 $4.<br \/>\n\u201cO pre\u00e7o do milho teria que ser superior a $4 para competir com a soja, ou a soja teria que cair para menos de $8 para que os dois fossem competitivos em solos de qualidade m\u00e9dia\u201d, diz Hurt.<br \/>\nOs pre\u00e7os do trigo est\u00e3o relativamente baixos devido aos grandes estoques de trigo. De acordo com o USDA, a propor\u00e7\u00e3o estoque-uso para trigo \u00e9 50,4%, o que significa que metade do uso anual est\u00e1 em estoque.<br \/>\n\u201cEsse \u00e9 o maior estoque de trigo em 30 anos, desde 1986\u201d, diz Hurt. \u201cEsses s\u00e3o suprimentos onerosos, e \u00e9 um sinal para os produtores de trigo procurarem outra coisa para produzir.\u201d<br \/>\nA rela\u00e7\u00e3o estoques de milho\/uso \u00e9 de 16,5%, o que Hurt diz ser o maior estoque de milho em 11 anos. Para a soja, a rela\u00e7\u00e3o estoques\/uso \u00e9 de 11,7%, a mais leve em 10 anos.<br \/>\nMeyer diz que os fazendeiros dos EUA, al\u00e9m da sele\u00e7\u00e3o de culturas, est\u00e3o considerando outras maneiras de reduzir custos. Por exemplo, as vendas de tratores novos ca\u00edram. A prote\u00e7\u00e3o de culturas tamb\u00e9m est\u00e1 na mistura, e \u00e9 outra raz\u00e3o pela qual a \u00e1rea plantada de soja aumentar\u00e1 no ano que vem, de acordo com Hurt.<br \/>\n\u201cA soja custa menos para plantar do que milho e trigo\u201d, diz Hurt. \u201cElas n\u00e3o exigem nitrog\u00eanio adicionado. Veremos uma porcentagem maior de soja no ano que vem \u2014 uma mudan\u00e7a de 3% para 5% \u2014 em compara\u00e7\u00e3o com a hist\u00f3ria recente, e isso enfraquecer\u00e1 a demanda por fertilizantes, principalmente nitrog\u00eanio.\u201d<br \/>\nDavis diz que quando os pre\u00e7os das safras est\u00e3o altos, como estavam h\u00e1 tr\u00eas a dez anos, os agricultores podem n\u00e3o analisar quanto est\u00e3o gastando em prote\u00e7\u00e3o de cultivos.<br \/>\nAgora eles est\u00e3o monitorando cada item de seus or\u00e7amentos.<br \/>\n\u201cOs fazendeiros est\u00e3o discriminando\u201d, diz Davis. \u201cSe doen\u00e7as aparecerem, eles provavelmente usar\u00e3o (prote\u00e7\u00e3o de cultivo). A regi\u00e3o aumentar\u00e1 sua \u00e1rea de plantio em 24%, e a soja preencher\u00e1 a maior parte desse novo espa\u00e7o. At\u00e9 2025, o Brasil se tornar\u00e1 \u201co produtor de soja mais importante\u201d do mundo.<br \/>\nDe acordo com a OCDE-FAO, a \u00e1rea plantada com soja na Am\u00e9rica Latina e no Caribe ver\u00e1 um aumento de quase 30% entre 2015 e 2025. A \u00e1rea de trigo aumentar\u00e1 em mais de 20%, e o milho, juntamente com outros gr\u00e3os secund\u00e1rios, em 5%.<br \/>\nHurt diz para esperar que a produ\u00e7\u00e3o de milho salte no ano que vem na Argentina. Isso porque o governo argentino eliminou um imposto de exporta\u00e7\u00e3o de milho, o que incentivar\u00e1 os agricultores a plantar mais milho. A Argentina manter\u00e1 um imposto de exporta\u00e7\u00e3o sobre a soja.<br \/>\nIsso acontece depois de um ano de clima ruim na Argentina, diz Davis, onde as enchentes prejudicaram a safra de feij\u00e3o, o que por sua vez ajudou a elevar os pre\u00e7os do feij\u00e3o em outros pa\u00edses, incluindo os Estados Unidos. O Brasil sofreu uma seca que afetou tanto sua safra de milho quanto de feij\u00e3o.<br \/>\nTamb\u00e9m na Argentina, a produ\u00e7\u00e3o de ma\u00e7\u00e3s e peras dever\u00e1 aumentar ligeiramente em 2017, embora a produ\u00e7\u00e3o de uvas de mesa despenque em 33%, de acordo com um relat\u00f3rio de novembro do Servi\u00e7o Agr\u00edcola Estrangeiro do USDA.<br \/>\nEnquanto isso, no Sul e Leste da \u00c1sia \u2014 j\u00e1 o maior produtor mundial de produtos agr\u00edcolas, de acordo com o relat\u00f3rio da OCDE-FAO \u2014 a produ\u00e7\u00e3o aumentar\u00e1 em quase 20% nos pr\u00f3ximos 10 anos. Cerca de 89% de aumentos projetados na produ\u00e7\u00e3o global de arroz ocorrer\u00e3o em pa\u00edses do Sul e Leste da \u00c1sia, principalmente na \u00cdndia, Indon\u00e9sia e Bangladesh. Espera-se que a regi\u00e3o veja um aumento na produ\u00e7\u00e3o de arroz de cerca de 15% at\u00e9 2025.<br \/>\nTamb\u00e9m no sul e leste da \u00c1sia, a produtividade do milho aumentar\u00e1 em cerca de 12%, e a da soja em cerca de 16%, embora a soja n\u00e3o seja uma cultura muito cultivada atualmente.<br \/>\nA produ\u00e7\u00e3o global de algod\u00e3o aumentar\u00e1 mais lentamente do que a taxa de consumo nos primeiros anos do per\u00edodo de 2015-2025, devido a um estoque robusto. De acordo com um relat\u00f3rio de novembro do USDA World Agricultural Production, R\u00fassia, Ucr\u00e2nia e Cazaquist\u00e3o tiveram produ\u00e7\u00f5es ou rendimentos recordes de trigo em 2016. Esperava-se que a safra de milho russa atingisse n\u00edveis recordes em \u00e1rea, rendimento e produ\u00e7\u00e3o.
