O Comit\u00ea de Avalia\u00e7\u00e3o de Riscos (RAC) da ECHA concluiu que \u201cas evid\u00eancias cient\u00edficas dispon\u00edveis n\u00e3o atendiam aos crit\u00e9rios para classificar o glifosato como cancer\u00edgeno, mutag\u00eanico ou t\u00f3xico para a reprodu\u00e7\u00e3o\u201d.<\/p>\n

Mas o diretor de pol\u00edticas da Soil Association, Peter Melchett, disse: \u201cA vis\u00e3o da ECHA contradiz a posi\u00e7\u00e3o da Ag\u00eancia Internacional de Pesquisa sobre C\u00e2ncer (IARC) da Organiza\u00e7\u00e3o Mundial da Sa\u00fade, que classificou o glifosato como um 'prov\u00e1vel cancer\u00edgeno' em 2015.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ele argumentou que a ECHA havia analisado as evid\u00eancias sobre o glifosato apenas \u201cisoladamente, e n\u00e3o como ele \u00e9 usado\u201d e disse que \u201cn\u00e3o estava claro\u201d por que havia chegado a uma conclus\u00e3o diferente da IARC.<\/p>\n

\u201cEmbora o debate sobre as liga\u00e7\u00f5es entre o glifosato e o c\u00e2ncer continue, a opini\u00e3o da ECHA n\u00e3o muda a necessidade urgente de desenvolver alternativas ainda mais pr\u00e1ticas para os agricultores que atualmente dependem dele\u201d, disse ele.<\/p>\n

O Sindicato Nacional dos Agricultores (NFU) acolheu com satisfa\u00e7\u00e3o as conclus\u00f5es da ECHA e afirmou que o produto qu\u00edmico desempenha um \u201cpapel vital\u201d na agricultura do Reino Unido.<\/p>\n
