A Marrone Bio Innovations Inc. e a Groundwork BioAg, sediada em Israel, anunciaram no in\u00edcio deste ano testes de campo bem-sucedidos do primeiro tratamento de sementes abrangente totalmente biol\u00f3gico do mundo para controle de pragas. Os tratamentos testados em milho e soja continham um inoculante micorr\u00edzico da Groundwork, chamado Rootella, bem como um bioinseticida, um bionematicida e um biofungicida da Marrone.<\/p>\n

Os dois Tratamentos Biol\u00f3gicos de Sementes em Pilha (BSST) s\u00e3o compostos por duas bact\u00e9rias inseticidas\/nematicidas diferentes, uma bact\u00e9ria bioestimulante\/fungicida e fungos micorr\u00edzicos. A adi\u00e7\u00e3o de micorrizas da Groundwork parece aumentar esses micr\u00f3bios. De acordo com a CEO da Marrone Bio Innovations, Pam Marrone, o projeto tem potencial para alto impacto no mercado de tratamento de sementes em geral em uma ampla gama de culturas e, em particular, pode atender a uma necessidade n\u00e3o atendida do segmento de gr\u00e3os org\u00e2nicos em r\u00e1pido crescimento e regi\u00f5es onde a resist\u00eancia a pragas \u00e9 um problema.<\/p>\n

Milho e soja foram testados em quatro estados do Centro-Oeste dos EUA. No milho, os dois tratamentos bioempilhados reduziram as popula\u00e7\u00f5es de vermes da raiz do milho e o acamamento do milho, pelo menos t\u00e3o bem ou melhor do que o padr\u00e3o qu\u00edmico comercial. A redu\u00e7\u00e3o dos danos causados pelos vermes da raiz do milho geralmente se correlacionou com o aumento da produtividade. O Tratamento BSST 1 proporcionou um aumento m\u00e9dio de 10,9 bushels (+5,8%) e o Tratamento BSST 2 um aumento m\u00e9dio de 12,5 bushels (+7,2%). \nMarrom:<\/strong> Com certeza, o mercado maior seria para culturas convencionais. A ideia era ver se algu\u00e9m realmente conseguiria fazer isso e mostrar o que est\u00e1 acontecendo agora com produtos biol\u00f3gicos sendo empilhados com produtos qu\u00edmicos \u2014 \u00e9 isso que Albaugh tamb\u00e9m est\u00e1 fazendo com nosso micr\u00f3bio nessa parceria. \u00c9 uma \u00f3tima estrat\u00e9gia. Eu s\u00f3 queria ver o que aconteceria se fiz\u00e9ssemos um tratamento de sementes totalmente biol\u00f3gico para mostrar que voc\u00ea realmente n\u00e3o precisa de produtos qu\u00edmicos. Alguns dos produtos qu\u00edmicos s\u00e3o preocupantes para polinizadores e outros e foram sujeitos a a\u00e7\u00f5es regulat\u00f3rias, ent\u00e3o pensamos em tentar. Conseguimos financiamento da Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Binacional de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento Industrial Israel-Estados Unidos (BIRD) para analisar isso e, vejam s\u00f3, nosso primeiro ano de testes de campo mostrou resultados muito bons \u2014 que sim, poder\u00edamos realmente ter os mesmos, ou em alguns casos melhores, aumentos de rendimento para controle de vermes da raiz do milho e controle de nematoides do que o principal produto bioempilhado ou qu\u00edmico.<\/p>\n
