A agricultura \u00e9 respons\u00e1vel por 90% da retirada de \u00e1gua doce da \u00cdndia, 18% do total de eletricidade e 15% do uso total de diesel. Cinquenta e quatro por cento da \u00cdndia enfrenta estresse h\u00eddrico extremamente alto, e os agricultores est\u00e3o cada vez mais endividados devido \u00e0 volatilidade dos rendimentos e pre\u00e7os das colheitas.<\/p>\n<p>Na fazenda experimental em Tamil Nadu, oito culturas de vegetais foram cultivadas usando o sistema de irriga\u00e7\u00e3o de precis\u00e3o SCORRES: batata-doce, alface, manjeric\u00e3o, alface-basela, ab\u00f3bora, milho, r\u00facula e feij\u00e3o-longo.<\/p>\n<p>O conhecimento dos agricultores locais sobre irriga\u00e7\u00e3o e condi\u00e7\u00f5es do solo para cada uma dessas culturas \u00e9 programado no sistema baseado em nuvem. O SCORRES refina o cronograma de irriga\u00e7\u00e3o usando sua previs\u00e3o do tempo local altamente precisa, condi\u00e7\u00f5es de umidade do solo, modelagem de evapora\u00e7\u00e3o e informa\u00e7\u00f5es de interrup\u00e7\u00e3o da rede para adaptar continuamente o cronograma e garantir que as culturas recebam exatamente o volume certo de \u00e1gua, no momento exato em que precisam.<\/p>\n<p>O professor Eddie Owens, diretor da Academia de Energia da Universidade Heriot-Watt e l\u00edder do projeto SCORRES, disse: \u201cTestamos oito culturas com nosso sistema de irriga\u00e7\u00e3o de precis\u00e3o e tivemos canteiros de controle que foram irrigados manualmente. Um pr\u00f3ximo passo ser\u00e1 expandir nosso teste pela \u00cdndia e pela China.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Martin Scherfler, da Auroville Consulting, parceira da SCORRES, supervisionou a instala\u00e7\u00e3o do sistema de irriga\u00e7\u00e3o e tem monitorado os testes de campo em Tamil Nadu.<\/p>\n<p>Martin disse: \u201cOs sistemas de controle de irriga\u00e7\u00e3o existentes na \u00cdndia s\u00e3o normalmente manuais ou dependem de rel\u00f3gios de ponto que n\u00e3o t\u00eam supervis\u00e3o de monitoramento.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAl\u00e9m disso, subs\u00eddios pesados e, em alguns estados, at\u00e9 mesmo eletricidade gratuita para o setor agr\u00edcola na \u00cdndia proibiram os fazendeiros de investir em bombas solares.
