Muitas vezes, as pessoas n\u00e3o sabem o que querem at\u00e9 que voc\u00ea mostre a elas.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><em>\u2014 Steve Jobs<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Em P&amp;D cient\u00edfico industrial, \u201cPesquisa\u201d pode ser definida como um processo que aborda as quest\u00f5es \u201cqual \u00e9 o desafio e qual \u00e9 a sua solu\u00e7\u00e3o?\u201d enquanto \u201cDesenvolvimento\u201d pode ser definido como um processo que aborda a quest\u00e3o \u201ccomo utilizamos a solu\u00e7\u00e3o para o desafio de uma maneira comercialmente vi\u00e1vel?\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Para a ind\u00fastria de prote\u00e7\u00e3o de cultivos, \u201cPesquisa\u201d pode incluir processos que abordam os desafios da resist\u00eancia a pesticidas, bem como a necessidade comercial de introdu\u00e7\u00e3o de novos produtos, por meio da descoberta de ingredientes ativos pesticidas com modos de a\u00e7\u00e3o novos ou aprimorados.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDesenvolvimento\u201d pode ser descrito como os processos que abordam a otimiza\u00e7\u00e3o da efic\u00e1cia, seguran\u00e7a e viabilidade comercial do ingrediente ativo.<\/p>\n<h2>Portf\u00f3lios de P&amp;D<\/h2>\n<p>A posi\u00e7\u00e3o de mercado de uma empresa (existente ou nova) determina \u2014 em grande medida \u2014 a extens\u00e3o de suas estrat\u00e9gias de P&amp;D e Inova\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n<p>Para corpora\u00e7\u00f5es maduras e neg\u00f3cios tradicionais com quase monop\u00f3lio, produtos e estrat\u00e9gias existentes podem limitar o desenvolvimento, e essas empresas tendem a se concentrar em Portf\u00f3lios Centrais portf\u00f3lio de crescimento agressivo e a neglig\u00eancia do portf\u00f3lio principal podem levar a concorr\u00eancia a usar a oportunidade para atacar seu neg\u00f3cio principal.<\/p>\n<p>Novas empresas e startups que n\u00e3o t\u00eam um neg\u00f3cio principal a defender n\u00e3o t\u00eam os mesmos limites e tendem a buscar Portf\u00f3lios de Crescimento Agressivo.<\/p>\n<h2>P&amp;D na ind\u00fastria de prote\u00e7\u00e3o de cultivos<\/h2>\n<p>Embora a era de descoberta e comercializa\u00e7\u00e3o do p\u00f3s-guerra tenha sido um per\u00edodo de inova\u00e7\u00e3o cont\u00ednua desde a d\u00e9cada de 1980, as empresas de prote\u00e7\u00e3o de cultivos t\u00eam contado cada vez mais com o crescimento por meio da expans\u00e3o global e da depend\u00eancia das receitas de produtos existentes.<\/p>\n<p>Com a crise financeira de 2008, a globaliza\u00e7\u00e3o estagnou, os produtos de prote\u00e7\u00e3o de cultivos se tornaram commodities e as corpora\u00e7\u00f5es se concentraram no \u201ccrescimento\u201d por meio de aquisi\u00e7\u00f5es, colabora\u00e7\u00f5es e acordos de licenciamento.<\/p>\n<p>Muitas dessas aquisi\u00e7\u00f5es e consolida\u00e7\u00f5es foram motivadas pela necessidade de distribuir os altos custos fixos de P&amp;D de pesticidas (especificamente o custo de descoberta e desenvolvimento de novos ingredientes ativos), produ\u00e7\u00e3o, marketing e distribui\u00e7\u00e3o em um maior volume de vendas em mais mercados (economia de escala).<\/p>\n<p>No setor global de prote\u00e7\u00e3o de cultivos, para muitas empresas os recursos de P&amp;D se tornaram muito dilu\u00eddos para implementar a verdadeira inova\u00e7\u00e3o de produtos e vis\u00e3o estrat\u00e9gica, e empresas maiores alavancaram a consolida\u00e7\u00e3o para acessar as iniciativas de pesquisa e desenvolvimento de empresas menores e mais inovadoras.<\/p>\n<p>Recentemente, no entanto, a reestrutura\u00e7\u00e3o e o investimento em P&amp;D por l\u00edderes na ind\u00fastria de prote\u00e7\u00e3o de cultivos mostraram um aumento, impulsionados por desenvolvimentos tecnol\u00f3gicos como a introdu\u00e7\u00e3o de novos ingredientes ativos, a ado\u00e7\u00e3o de cultivos geneticamente modificados, novas t\u00e9cnicas de aplica\u00e7\u00e3o, desenvolvimentos de formula\u00e7\u00f5es e a introdu\u00e7\u00e3o de linhas exclusivas de produtos biopesticidas.<\/p>\n<p>Nesse contexto, a P&amp;D industrial utiliza estrat\u00e9gias de longo prazo orientadas para o futuro, comuns \u00e0 pesquisa cient\u00edfica, mantendo o foco no rendimento comercial.<\/p>\n<p>P&amp;D \u00e9 crucial para o desenvolvimento e introdu\u00e7\u00e3o de novos produtos, ou para a melhoria incremental de linhas de produtos existentes.<\/p>\n<p>Ao contr\u00e1rio da maioria das outras atividades corporativas, a P&amp;D n\u00e3o visa gerar lucro imediato e est\u00e1 associada a riscos consider\u00e1veis e a um retorno incerto sobre o investimento.<\/p>\n<p>As medidas de P&amp;D refletem o estado da ind\u00fastria, como o n\u00edvel de concorr\u00eancia ou o grau de progresso tecnol\u00f3gico.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_61551\" style=\"width: 547px\" cultivos.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Para a ind\u00fastria de pesticidas, os gastos com P&amp;D variam de um d\u00edgito baixo para empresas gen\u00e9ricas de prote\u00e7\u00e3o de plantas a mais de 10% do faturamento total de vendas (receitas) para empresas baseadas em descobertas.<\/p>\n<p>\u00cdndices de gastos com P&amp;D de mais de 10%-15% de receitas s\u00e3o incomuns, representando um n\u00edvel mais comumente visto em empresas de engenharia de alta tecnologia.<\/p>\n<h2>Processos de P&amp;D no desenvolvimento de produtos para prote\u00e7\u00e3o de cultivos<\/h2>\n<p>Para P&amp;D em prote\u00e7\u00e3o de cultivos, o processo de identifica\u00e7\u00e3o de um novo ingrediente ativo e sua convers\u00e3o em um produto que os agricultores podem usar pode levar mais de 10 anos e requer um investimento de mais de \u20ac 200 milh\u00f5es (Figura 3).<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_61552\" style=\"width: 1231px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aplica\u00e7\u00f5es, e Toxicologia: a determina\u00e7\u00e3o de riscos \u00e0 sa\u00fade e ao meio ambiente.<\/p>\n<p>Para o setor de prote\u00e7\u00e3o de cultivos, a P&amp;D identifica e aborda o desafio de como permitir respostas proativas \u00e0s mudan\u00e7as tecnol\u00f3gicas, \u00e0 concorr\u00eancia e \u00e0s mudan\u00e7as nas necessidades dos clientes.<\/p>\n<p>No cen\u00e1rio global de prote\u00e7\u00e3o de cultivos em r\u00e1pida mudan\u00e7a, as organiza\u00e7\u00f5es sobrevivem melhorando continuamente sua gama de produtos.<\/p>\n<h2>Estrat\u00e9gias de P&amp;D na ind\u00fastria de prote\u00e7\u00e3o de cultivos<\/h2>\n<p>Para o setor de prote\u00e7\u00e3o de cultivos, as estrat\u00e9gias de P&amp;D normalmente incluem a descoberta de novos produtos (novos ingredientes ativos e tecnologias), bem como o desenvolvimento de produtos \u2014 incluindo o desenvolvimento de produtos sem patente (produtos gen\u00e9ricos) e o desenvolvimento de produtos novos ou aprimorados com base em portf\u00f3lios de ingredientes ativos existentes (produtos propriet\u00e1rios).<\/p>\n<p>A descoberta e o desenvolvimento de novos produtos se concentram na identifica\u00e7\u00e3o e no desenvolvimento de ingredientes ativos com novos modos de a\u00e7\u00e3o que podem ser combinados com ingredientes ativos existentes em estrat\u00e9gias de resist\u00eancia, que podem proporcionar maior efic\u00e1cia em esp\u00e9cies de cultivo espec\u00edficas, que podem oferecer um menor custo de produ\u00e7\u00e3o e que podem ser patenteados.<\/p>\n<p>A prote\u00e7\u00e3o da propriedade intelectual, como patentes, d\u00e1 a essas empresas a chance de recuperar os custos de P&amp;D de descoberta, fornecendo vantagens competitivas, como um impedimento legal aos imitadores, ao mesmo tempo em que oferece vantagens aos pioneiros, como pre\u00e7os e margens de lucro mais altos.<\/p>\n<p>O desenvolvimento de novos produtos requer um investimento consider\u00e1vel em P&amp;D, com empresas de descoberta tipicamente gastando 10% ou mais de sua receita em P&amp;D. Em contraste, empresas focadas em desenvolvimento gen\u00e9rico tipicamente gastam 1%-3% de sua receita em P&amp;D.<\/p>\n<p>Ap\u00f3s as recentes rodadas de aquisi\u00e7\u00f5es, colabora\u00e7\u00f5es e acordos de licenciamento, um foco maior est\u00e1 sendo colocado no investimento em P&amp;D na integra\u00e7\u00e3o de tecnologias biol\u00f3gicas e qu\u00edmicas para prote\u00e7\u00e3o de cultivos.<\/p>\n<p>O surgimento de empresas de prote\u00e7\u00e3o de cultivos \u201cintegradas\u201d \u00e9 um grande desenvolvimento que levou \u00e0 consolida\u00e7\u00e3o entre empresas de sementes agr\u00edcolas e produtos qu\u00edmicos, e \u00e0 introdu\u00e7\u00e3o de variedades de sementes geneticamente modificadas (culturas GM) com produtos qu\u00edmicos complementares de prote\u00e7\u00e3o de cultivos.<\/p>\n<p>Exemplos incluem culturas projetadas para serem resistentes aos herbicidas glifosato e glufosinato, e o desenvolvimento de \u201cprotetores incorporados em plantas\u201d \u2014 uma forma de inseticida biol\u00f3gico em que DNA estranho, como o gene da toxina BT, \u00e9 inserido no material gen\u00e9tico da cultura.<\/p>\n<h2>Tend\u00eancias de P&amp;D em Prote\u00e7\u00e3o de Cultivos<\/h2>\n<p>Devido aos desafios t\u00e9cnicos e aos altos custos relacionados \u00e0 descoberta e ao desenvolvimento bem-sucedidos de ingredientes ativos com novos modos de a\u00e7\u00e3o, o investimento em P&amp;D por empresas de prote\u00e7\u00e3o de cultivos est\u00e1 migrando da pesquisa (descoberta) para o desenvolvimento.<\/p>\n<p>Um foco renovado est\u00e1 sendo colocado no aumento da efic\u00e1cia e seguran\u00e7a dos ingredientes ativos e formula\u00e7\u00f5es existentes, otimizando a aplica\u00e7\u00e3o e absor\u00e7\u00e3o de pesticidas, diminuindo a persist\u00eancia de produtos qu\u00edmicos no ambiente e reduzindo a toxicidade para humanos e outras esp\u00e9cies n\u00e3o-alvo.<\/p>\n<p>Embora o aumento dos investimentos em P&amp;D e regulat\u00f3rios esteja impulsionando o desenvolvimento de produtos de prote\u00e7\u00e3o de cultivos com menos riscos \u00e0 sa\u00fade e ao meio ambiente, h\u00e1 uma tend\u00eancia da ind\u00fastria se concentrar em produtos com base em seu potencial comercial \u2014 em detrimento de produtos para mercados menores.<\/p>\n<p>Uma tend\u00eancia de desenvolvimento distinta na ind\u00fastria de prote\u00e7\u00e3o de cultivos \u00e9 o crescente investimento em produtos e estrat\u00e9gias de biopesticidas.<\/p>\n<p>Biopesticidas s\u00e3o agentes biol\u00f3gicos naturais, subst\u00e2ncias ou misturas de subst\u00e2ncias usadas para prevenir, destruir ou controlar pragas (incluindo ervas daninhas) e doen\u00e7as, e atualmente apresentam forte crescimento no mercado global de pesticidas.<\/p>\n<p>Os investimentos em P&amp;D no desenvolvimento de produtos e estrat\u00e9gias de biopesticidas se concentram na melhoria de t\u00e9cnicas para o desenvolvimento e aplica\u00e7\u00e3o de biopesticidas para aumentar sua viabilidade comercial.<\/p>\n<p>Obrigado por ler.
