As culturas biotecnol\u00f3gicas resistentes a insetos, usadas com sucesso para combater a FAW na Am\u00e9rica Latina, s\u00e3o outra ferramenta fora do alcance da maioria dos agricultores na \u00c1frica porque os governos tomam decis\u00f5es pol\u00edticas para n\u00e3o usar a tecnologia.<\/p>\n<h2>Impacto na produtividade europeia<\/h2>\n<p>A falta de acesso \u00e0 tecnologia n\u00e3o \u00e9 apenas um problema do mundo em desenvolvimento. O ambiente pol\u00edtico da UE e as decis\u00f5es regulat\u00f3rias relacionadas levaram \u00e0 redu\u00e7\u00e3o do acesso a ferramentas agr\u00edcolas modernas, como biotecnologia vegetal e produtos de prote\u00e7\u00e3o de cultivos, contribuindo para a estagna\u00e7\u00e3o da produtividade agr\u00edcola e uma crescente depend\u00eancia de importa\u00e7\u00f5es de alimentos, de acordo com um relat\u00f3rio escrito pelo analista de mercado Agbioinvestor.<\/p>\n<p>O relat\u00f3rio compara a agricultura da UE com outros grandes mercados, como o Brasil e os Estados Unidos, onde a produtividade agr\u00edcola aumentou significativamente. Em contraste com seus concorrentes, o relat\u00f3rio observa que o n\u00famero de ferramentas de prote\u00e7\u00e3o de cultivos dispon\u00edveis para os agricultores da UE diminuiu significativamente nos \u00faltimos anos, enquanto continua a haver uma proibi\u00e7\u00e3o de fato em grande parte da regi\u00e3o sobre o cultivo de culturas GM.<\/p>\n<p>O sistema regulat\u00f3rio da UE tamb\u00e9m cria obst\u00e1culos para importa\u00e7\u00f5es de alimentos, onde regras baseadas em riscos limitam o n\u00famero de agroqu\u00edmicos que podem ser usados no exterior em produtos agr\u00edcolas que ser\u00e3o exportados para a UE. Espera-se que essa configura\u00e7\u00e3o baseada em riscos de toler\u00e2ncias de importa\u00e7\u00e3o crie distor\u00e7\u00f5es comerciais, bem como problemas com processos de produ\u00e7\u00e3o em pa\u00edses que exportam para a UE. A continua\u00e7\u00e3o dessas tend\u00eancias pode levar a pre\u00e7os mais altos e possivelmente menos disponibilidade de alguns alimentos na UE.<\/p>\n<p>A inova\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 fundamental para ajudar os agricultores a atender \u00e0 demanda por alimentos. Em 1960, havia cerca de 100 ingredientes ativos de prote\u00e7\u00e3o de cultivos dispon\u00edveis para os agricultores, em compara\u00e7\u00e3o com cerca de 600 dispon\u00edveis globalmente hoje, al\u00e9m de v\u00e1rias centenas de pesticidas biol\u00f3gicos. Tamb\u00e9m deve continuar a pesquisar e desenvolver novos produtos para ajudar os agricultores a enfrentar os imensos desafios que vir\u00e3o com as press\u00f5es das mudan\u00e7as clim\u00e1ticas, o aumento populacional e a necessidade de proteger a preciosa biodiversidade e os recursos naturais da expans\u00e3o da \u00e1rea cultivada.<\/p>\n<p>Fundamental para esses avan\u00e7os \u00e9 um ambiente regulat\u00f3rio que fornece \u00e0s empresas a previsibilidade para se comprometerem a investir.
