A pesquisa da Fase I demonstrou que o programa inovador de captura e triagem microbiana da AgBiome poderia identificar micr\u00f3bios com atividade inseticida contra SPW. Mais de 25.000 novos micr\u00f3bios foram isolados para triagem, incluindo sete bact\u00e9rias e 15 fungos com atividade contra SPW. A Fase II levar\u00e1 esse trabalho adiante testando essas cepas principais em ensaios de estufa e de campo.<\/p>\n<p>A batata-doce \u00e9 um alimento b\u00e1sico e uma cultura alimentar suplementar na \u00c1frica Subsaariana, onde \u00e9 cultivada principalmente por pequenos agricultores. O gorgulho da batata-doce \u00e9 a praga de inseto mais amea\u00e7adora da cultura, causando perdas de 60-100 por cento se n\u00e3o for tratada. At\u00e9 o momento, n\u00e3o h\u00e1 m\u00e9todos de controle vi\u00e1veis para o gorgulho na \u00c1frica. O controle biol\u00f3gico \u00e9 uma solu\u00e7\u00e3o atraente, geralmente proporcionando baixo ou nenhum risco de exposi\u00e7\u00e3o e potencialmente oferecendo controle durante toda a temporada por meio da inocula\u00e7\u00e3o de plantas hospedeiras.<\/p>\n<p>O projeto ser\u00e1 liderado pelos pesquisadores da AgBiome, Drs.
